Do people (you) spend money on this game?

i’m so used to ow1 and how loot boxes were given out like free candy that i can’t comprehend spending real money on skins. they’re skin bundles in the shop that are $40+ and that was the price of the game before it went f2p.

edit: i should also reference the battle pass as well, never bought the battle pass either.

Yeah I bought a couple things.

IM of the opinion that if a Game asks more than 1-5 dollars per skin. in a game type like this. Its not worth my money.

We have about 100 reasons not to give this company money. But the basics are:

1 ) They have no direct oversight over account bans. Which means we are walking on a very thin sheet of glass. If we mess up. (which happens). The account is gone, and that means all of your purchases are no longer available to you.

2 ) Controlling of the match quality. They dont do a good job of creating “Fun” and “fair” matches. So investing in a game that has very poor quality in content delivery is a safe bet to assume that they are not going to provide longevity.

3 ) Alteration of the skin or Content. At any point in time they can remove that asset from the game for any reason. or alter it. I had this problem in another game. Where a skin I purchased was “too camo” and they changed it. So I decided I would never pay for a skin again. unless very rare circumstances.

4 ) It is a live service game. Which means you have no stake or ownership to the rights of the game in a physical copy that you control. Which means no burden of proof.

5 ) Forced wins and Forced losses. Matches are rigged. Which means its just a “slot machine game”. for entertainment purposes and no real value based upon the efforts of a player that is applied. A match has a predetermined outcome.

i can’t comprehend paying any money, even if it was just 1 dollar for a skin.

the main reason why this game pulled me in was that there was no such thing as the battle pass to begin with. there wasn’t a “grind” to earn anything either, you just play casually and get cool loot overtime with each level. even with events you didn’t have to grind much to get all the exclusive lootboxes.

it was quite different to every other game on the market, most games would charge you crazy money for cosmetic items…

now we have ow2 and all its marketing lol.

Look, I’m a screw-up in a lot of ways. But I’m not THAT much of a screw-up. I’m not gonna shame myself like that.

I spent more money on OW1 than I have on OW2 so far. Never bought more than 2 lootboxes, but between the Mercy skin, multiple copies of the game, and OWL tokens, it added up over the years.

I’m not putting a single penny while this is not fixed

Not if I can help it - between the expense and sketchiness of the company, it doesn’t really generate a lot of enthusiasm for showering them with cash.

But I enjoy the game enough to buy a battlepass when I don’t have enough earned coins to cover it. it’s hard to begrudge them the occasional $10 to keep the lights on, and while valuations of virtual items is always a wiggly business, I feel like there’s probably $10 worth of stuff in the pass.

But aside from the battlepass, I consider the store prices to be extortionate. I get that they need to make money, but I’m fairly certain they’d move a lot more cosmetics overall if they drastically cut the prices.

No rofl. Why would I do that?

Yes, I buy the BP and the skins I really like from the shop. Like 1 to 3 per season, so nothing special. The more skins I get for my heroes, the less willing am I buy skins for them, because they have to be better than the ones I already own.

I probably bought about 2-300 dollars worth of stuff for the actual OW1 game and much more in merch and tie ins.

Boxes for friends and the charity skin (though I dunno if that’s actually buying stuff?).

Have spent nothing on OW2 but since friends and family think I’m a huge OW buff they gifted me a couple BPs and I’ve free coined from challenges for another BP.

3 times. Bought the initial Overwatch and 2 coin bundles (they don’t do this anymore) because i like the skin they came out with and i needed the coin to buy the Battlepass. These days i still get the BP each season but never bought any coins. I take advantage of Bing Rewards (200 or 500 overwatch coins for 1800/5000 bing points) + the 500 coins i get from weeklies. So i practically get the BP for free every season.

OW2 before came out my sister’s husband bought me the pre-order thingy (forgot the name)

and then later I used those coins in that to buy future battlepasses for 2 months then my boyfriend bought me the Mime Moira set xd

But yeah since then nothing has been spent on this game, I stopped playing it because MTX was thrown in your face constantly. When they care more about the shop than the actual game, you know it’s time to say goodbye. I miss the game but it is what it is.

Honestly I don’t care about skins neither, I would be more tented to pay to play PVE or even to unlock new heroes like in Valorant.

But in the previous seasons I told to myself, well I like this game and I want to see it evolve, so I’ll support the devs by doing some microtransactions (mainly battlepass and some microtransactions to cheap things like voicelines etc…)

This until I received my first unfair report warning :frowning: … Now i’m not putting more money in this game, I prefer donate that to Wikipedia

No. I don’t spend real money on imaginary things.

They’re not imaginary, they’re digital

Ah, my mistake! Still a no from me.

I pretty much ignore the shop. The only time I bought a skin was kiriko’s K-pop one, because I missed out on her mythic in season 3. Didn’t feel like playing that season due to poor balance decisions.

No. I have no problem spending money on games I like but OW2 is a bad game so I don’t give it money.
