having as a point of reference Sombra, Symmetra and Mei in the current patch, no mention of past balances… can we call them “off-dps”?
I am referring to the coexistence between their personal damage and pure team support techniques (blocking, TP, hacking).
I personally call heroes like Sombra, Mei or Symmetra “Utility DPS”. Mei slows down enemies so her team can pick them off, Sombra disables abilities and Ultimates, as well as being able to scout ahead and see what the enemy is running. Symmetra slows down enemy movement with her turrets and provides a teleporter.
Technically flex DPS, or projectile DPS
Not sure, though there is many other types of dps. As if blast dmg, or hitscan. We could get one but it may not be what we expected
They kind of go towards Off-Supports indeed, but without any team healing.
I get silver healing on solider a lot, most of it self heals
hitscan dps - hitscans
snipers - widow, hanzo, ashe
projectile dps - heavy projectile heroes such as junkrat
flankers - heroes that flank to secure a quick kill in the backline (genji, doom, tracer, echo, etc.)
utility dps - support-oriented dps (sombra, mei, sym, occasionally soldier is considered)
The “off dps” are usually what people call “throw picks”.
Bastion is a robot, he has a switch that turns it off, so it can be an off dps.
Echo also does and if u want to know where the button is, watch Chobits 1st episode.
Personally I think the coolest way to separate main dps from off dps should be kills vs damage.
Some heroes do a lot of damage or at least consistent one but can’t secure a kill that easily.
And some heroes have a combo or an ability that lets them get pick very easily but can’t do too much overall damage or at least a consistent kind of damage…
kill securers:
Doomfist,Hanzo,Echo,Genji,Mccree,Mei,Sombra& Widowmaker
High/consistent damage heroes: Ashe,Bastion,Junkrat,Pharah,Reaper,Soldier:76,Symmtra,Torbjorn,Tracer
I mean, splitting dps by utility can also work but then we"ll have only like 2 or 3 dps there out of 17…
Hmmm occasionally I have a widow who misses every shot and won’t switch off. Does that count?
