There are a few but notable differences between hamsters and guinea pigs. As someone who owns 2 guinea pigs, they are wonderful pets. And Hammond is now my new main.

Technically they are distantly related. Guinea pigs are larger and more social. The big difference is hamsters are nocturnal vs. guinea pigs that are active around their owner’s schedule.
