Do hours played on a Hero Really mater?
And how would you estimate that would be?

The more time you spend doing something, the more you learn about it.
It only matters for people who want to flame you for a hero you enjoy playing lol.
As for knowledge, someone who plays X hero is going to know a lot more about how their hero works than someone who has significantly less hours on them.
Total hours doesn’t matter. I have over a hundred hours on Doomfist, but I am terrible with him because he was reworked into the tank role.
I mean I think it used to, but now that I took a long break in the game I’ve basically reverted back to zero, so if you see ooh big number just remind yourself they could’ve gotten super duper rusty.
It was always used to flame people, same as open profiles, but in the early days it was helpful when getting your hero pick during the era of hero limits but not RQ.
They CAN help, they don’t necessarily equate to skill or competence.
If you were in comp, GM ranks. Would you trust a one trick with astronomical hours on a specific hero or someone with barely time on this same hero?
i dont know, whats the answer? i am just bronze
Just use common sense lol
you saying that to me? WOW hehehe
I’ve always preferred being on a team of one tricks, even if we end up against counters, than being on a team full of flex players.
Everything just feels like it goes more smoothly.
yea like one family! 20 characters) they somtimes are alowed to pet them right? ponys are cool!
Generally yes, but the curve is logarithmic. Like it has BRUTAL diminishing returns past certain hours (depending on the person/rank ofc).
Like a dude with 20h might be 2x better than someone with 10, but someone with 200h is not 10x better than the dude with 10. Probably just 4x ish times etc.
If this is truly the case, I really really really pity you.
Im pretty sure that if we had 2 pocket alternate universes, and in A, every single player is an OTP and in B every single player is a Flex Player … the game in A would be a living hell and dead in less than 2 years.
Horror.
Do any of these words invalidate what I said?
Did I say that you are wrong or your post is not valid?
Just feels like a waste replying directly to my post with a “yes, but” interjection is all.
No it isnt. Mostly because the statement is generic and many people seem to believe that time on a hero = experience level with that hero, 1 to 1.
Not wrong, but my point makes it more accurate.
No.
I have 300+ hours on mercy (from ow1)
If you saw me play her now. You would think i just started playing today.
It’s not entirely accurate to say learning follows an exponential decay curve. It can look like one for some, but it can also look like a series of plateaus when someone gets stuck on various concepts but then accelerates their learning when they figure them out. Everyone gets stuck on different things and are affected by compounding knowledge differently.
I will say this though.
Playing mercy 300+ hours have made me a better support overall.
