DLSS 3.5 - Unable to switch to "Quality"

I just realized DLSS 3.5 is now supported in Overwatch 2 which is really awesome, but I found an issue where my game doesn’t allow me to pick the “Quality” setting for DLSS.

The game lets me choose between Performance and Balanced, but when I try and switch to Quality, it resets to Balanced or Performance after I exit out of the settings.

My specs:
Graphics: RTX 2080 Ti - Latest driver (Driver Version: 546.33) is installed
CPU: i5 10400f
RAM: 16GB DDR4 3200MHz
Motherboard: MPG Z490 GAMING PLUS (latest BIOS update installed)
OS: Windows 11 Pro (latest Windows update is installed)

Screenshots of my in-game graphics settings, maybe they could help?

It happens to me as well. And also, you can’t even choose DLSS 3 on the Steam version of the game.

Interesting, I can’t even select any of the options.

I can only have it at auto and I can’t see balanced or quality or performance option.

I’m still so happy that they’ve added it to the game!

DLSS 3 (not to be mistaken with 3.5) is only supported by RTX 40. No idea if/how you can select it.

I looked on Reddit a couple days ago about this and apparently in the game files it’s confirmed to be DLSS 3.5, but in the game options it’s just called DLSS 3.

Have you found any solutions because I have the same issue

Nah I can’t switch it to quality still. We need to wait for Blizzard to fix this, hopefully it’s fixed with the Season 9 patch.

same here. It always resets to the Performance preset.

I can switch it to quality mode now thanks to the S9 patch, however when I exit out of the game and launch it the setting still resets to Performance.

yep same here. I hope they fix this issue cuz I really don’t like the look of the other quality modes.

No, dlss 3 can be used on RTX 30 (and 20 i think?) series also. It’s only the frame generation tech that is RTX 40 only.

Same here. Resetting to performance mode after closing and starting the game again. When we are going to see a fix ?!

Just want to add in that it would be appreciated if the DLSS preset could save, and not be switched back to performance every launch.

^^^ Yeah this is still an issue in the latest patch. It’s a little annoying having to go into the settings to set it back to quality every time you launch Overwatch. Once that bug is fixed DLSS in Overwatch will be one step closer to being a great feature that provides a free performance boost for higher resolutions at max settings.

They should try and mitigate the ghosting issue with DLSS enabled as much as possible as well. When you’re looking at enemy players moving around at a distance behind walls using Widowmaker’s ultimate, the ghosting effect can be really bad at times.

The ghosting effect happens more often at lower resolutions (1440p, 1080p), but even at 4K the ghosting is very much present.

Final note; Overwatch team if you’re reading this, DLSS 3.7 exists now but Overwatch is still using DLSS 3.5. Some people on Reddit and tech forums have claimed that DLSS 3.7 further improves performance in games by reducing VRAM usage, and it may also help to reduce ghosting in a select few games. It might be worth experiementing with in OW.

(I’m tempted to go into the OW files and replace DLSS 3.5 with DLSS 3.7 to test it out myself, but I also don’t want to accidentally trigger the anti-cheat lol)

Same here. Jan 4 2025. Switching DLSS settings does not prompt the Save button to appear; i have to first switch what window type setting i want, and then change the DLSS setting. Once saved, it resets itself within a minute in game.

i can see that the bug appears again today, after all this time, when i go back to options it resets to auto everytime.
