Hey
So, Discord is my preferred voice-chat programme and I use it when I’m playing with my brother/other friends and it’s worked well for me for like, the past 2 years or so but now I keep getting this one issue.
Around Halloween Terror, occasionally everything would go silent (in game and in Discord) for about 1-2 seconds and then, when the in-game sound returned, my Discord would no longer pick up my voice. I would have to leave the chat room (or call if I was duoing) and re-enter for it to finally pick my voice up again. Which as you can imagine, is less than ideal mid-game
I uninstalled and re-installed Discord, updated my headset through the Corsair Utility Engine and my PC has also had updates since then too (along with Overwatch, obviously
) yet the problem still persists.
It doesn’t happen in any other game, Apex Legends, World of Warcraft and Hearthstone to name a few work perfectly - so I’m just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or knows of it and how to fix this
Incredibly grateful for any input and/or help

Are you plugging your headset into a USB 3.0 port? I remember this problem surfaced on reddit several years ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/discordapp/comments/4xy4wd/discord_loses_mic_input_while_playing_overwatch/

I am, thank you for sharing this link, I’ll definitely give it a try
Did you manage to fix the issue? If so it would be much appreciated if you could confirm, thanks.
Nope I still have the issue
Can you reboot, play until you have the issue, then run a DxDiag to post here? Maybe your audio drivers are crashing/recovering in the background.
You might also want to make sure that apps don’t have exclusive access to your microphone in the Windows settings.
DxDiag instructions (click to expand/collapse)
- Press Windows Key + R.
- Type DxDiag and press Enter.
- In the DxDiag window, click Save All Information.
- Name the file “dxdiag” and click Save.
To add it to your reply here:
- Open the text file and copy all of the text.
- Paste the text in your reply.
- Highlight the pasted text and click </> on the post editor.
If your DxDiag does not fit in one message, you can post it on Pastebin.com and provide the hash code (the numbers/letters after the .com) in your reply.
