I am having a consistent problem. Seemingly randomly, I will disconnect from the game because it says I have lost connection. I get the little red plug symbol and booted from the game to the title screen. I don’t lose the internet to anything else. I’m still in a discord call and doing other things that require internet. Nothing else is interrupted.
I have even constantly pinged the server through command prompt to see if I can’t ping it when it happens, and it still pings the server. I have scanned and repaired multiple times, updated drivers, flushed my dns and renewed my ip. I have also tested for packet loss and I don’t seem to have it. I’ve pretty much done everything that the general troubleshooting page asks. It keeps happening and it didn’t used to happen until around 2 or 3 weeks ago.
OVERWATCH IS THE ONLY GAME THAT THIS HAPPENS WITH! I have no idea what to do. I honestly doubt this thread will help, but I’m desperate.
Mostly an issue between you and the game server on your connection route. We can figure out where and why your disconnections are happening by running a WinMTR test.
Open the WinMTR folder and select the 32 or 64 bit version. Choose whichever one corresponds to your version of Windows.
Run the WinMTR.exe
Type the IP address you want to trace in the “Host” field. To get the correct IP you will actually need to open up the game and go Practice Vs AI or Quick Play and if you are on PC hit Ctrl+Shift+N and it will bring up the ingame network diagnostic graph. In the top left corner is the IP address you want to run WinMTR to. note When looking at the IP it will show up ingame as something like 12.34.56.78:12345. You will want to leave the last 5 digits and the colon at the end off and the IP you want to use is just the 12.34.56.78
Once you notice the connection issue while playing, play for about 6 more minutes, minimize the game and click on “Stop”.
Click on “Copy text to clipboard”, then return to this forum thread.
Type two sets of four squiggly lines and then paste the contents of the WinMTR test between: ~~~~ Paste WinMTR Test Results Here ~~~~
