I’m starting to consider uninstalling this game after new years. I’m noticing alot of disconnects mid match on ethernet.
The game will:
stop updating and/or sending information,
loop audio and effects (which is very fun on the ears),
disconnect from game server,
reconnects as i look at the main gameplay menu in a daze
places me in spawn and forces me to walk back to where i was resulting in a lost fight, or even a match.
I have at least 6 recorded instances where im walking to point, shooting, or respawning and then the issue comes up again.
I’ve also seen black screen with the game noises looping for 3 seconds, and then a complete disconnect.
I have updated drivers from intel, amd, nvidia, EVERYTHING is checked. Static IP, Multiple DNS servers, internet adapter settings, 1500 MTU, etc
If it hasn’t failed me before for almost 3 years of constant playing, why now?
It’s one thing if the balance is always flippant, but to actually be unable to play the game is my limit.
I have also tried COD games with blizzard servers and no issue. NAT is always Open and less than 30ms ping. I am aware user error accounts for almost 90% of the issues. But this is the first i have had an issue to this degree where i can’t diagnose and resolve the issue and it impedes my enjoyment.
No heating issues at all. If it happens during a fight, all of the current shots/abilities will loop and i notice all the character models drop through the earth or phase through walls
post update: im just going to uninstall and wait for the next season to see if anything changes.
I’m seeing a dozen other users with very similar issues and reports. consistent and over 500 hours spent with no connection issues before until january. I don’t want to spend any more hours trying to troubleshoot when every venue has been attempted.
Took a 2-3 week break from ow because of this exact issue back in Dec.
Enjoyed playing other games with no lag or any issues. Logged on today and had the same experience.
It definitely has something to do with the servers.
If a connection is truly overloaded or configured improperly, the disconnect can happen faster. Your ISP can review all connections you make on your modem and tell you what happened at the time of disconnect. It kind of sounds like your modem or router is experiencing a packet flood, which usually happens when they’re ready to be replaced.
That’s the point of port forwarding and establishing a static ip. To mitigate that issue , ergo; NAT Type:Open.
Thank you though. You’ve helped me realize i actually had a restricted cone NAT instead of a fully Open NAT, which explained why i could connect to multiple servers but not OW2
For anyone still having this issue; ensure your UPNP is enabled in your routers/modems WAN settings. If there was a storm that passed by, it may reset or revert to default settings.
