I am being randomly disconnected from the game server, it kicks me to login and states “lost connection to game server”. This is NOT an internet issue, as I have experienced this both on my mobile hot-spot and my starlink wifi. I’m going insane trying to fix this, overwatch is my special interest and I will not cope without this game </3
It’s definitely not my connection. I usually see multiple “player has left the game” messages just before I get disconnected. Something is clearly wrong with Blizzard’s servers
As far as I’ve seen and from playing with friends, it’s just me who disconnects. The servers have been experiencing DDOS attacks recently, which is what you may be experiencing? They need to fix this ASAP I’ve spent almost 2k on this game and I don’t want to be unable to play it…
Hi, volunteer here. Unfortunately, neither of those connections meets the requirements for Overwatch 2 or any of Blizzard’s online titles. They are both mobile networks that employ line-of-sight technology to complete the connection path, which is highly susceptible to interference
Not meeting the requirements doesn’t mean they won’t work at all, but if you run into issues they would fall beyond the scope of forum troubleshooting and Blizzard support.
I normally play on wifi, and the router is in direct line-of-sight to my pc tower and network dongle-thingy. I only tried hotspot to see if i’d run into the same issue again, which I did.
I’m not talking about the network equipment and computers in your home. Instead, I’m talking about the network modem/dongle and the line of sight to the tower or satellite it needs to reach for internet service. T-Mobile wirelessly uses network towers for internet connections and Starlink uses satellites for internet connections. Broadband providers use stable landline cables. There’s a lot of distance (and interference opportunities*) between your house and cell towers or literal space satellites.
UPDATE: Unsure if it is permanently fixed, but for the last day and a bit it’s been stable. I swapped to the steam version of OW2 but also a friend suggested a WiFi driver update. I am unsure which one solved the issue but it’s worth giving it a go!
My partner was having ping issues last night (400ms+) through BattleNet and swapped to steam and suddenly these issues were resolved also.
I’d be interested to see whether other people having this issue are using the BattleNet launcher or Steam.
