If a player plays the same hero match after match, begin reduction on SR gains per win, and increase SR deductions per loss. Reward players who flex and use teamwork.
Thoughts?

āReward me for thinking Iām better than āx type of playersā because I disagree with their view and will never acknowledge itās a game or that different people have different viewsā- OP
Because nothing says play our game better than being incentivized to not play in a manner you agree with. If they always chose Rein would you have an issue? Of course not.
The argument also goes the other way. I have most hours as Moira so people wonāt let me flex to DPS or Tank. If I do I get told Iām throwing. In LFP if I join as DPS or Tank, I get kicked.
I allready feel bad for the new Ashe mains in plat/gold/silver⦠They dont have any SR left in that case lolā¦
only count wins and losses for SR. If I can win by chucking my computer out the window once the match starts, so be it!
Its hard enough getting tank/support players now without punishing the ppl who 1 trick them. Pass
It would lead to people playing even less tank/support role. The support hero pool is extremely small - how do you prevent support players from being punished? I mean it is already enough that you gain less SR on average by playing support, you want to punish those players even more?
Also, the suggestion would ironically work⦠against the hero switching concept. Think about it, enemy team has Pharah, so⦠i would pick Mcree or Soldier to counter her but here is the problem, i have already played those heroes in previous matches because well⦠it is rather easy to win matches with Pharah in low ranks. So stay on hero that canāt deal with Pharah, risk the loss or switch to Soldier/MCree and get less points for win?
Itās also a tool smurfs would use to stay in place. Plus it wouldnāt work. A one trick usually cares about the character over anything else.
The game already rewards good players and also punishes bad players in terms of SR.
Maybe it never happened to you but if you do very well, you get extra SR for a win and on the contrary, if you donāt do well, you lose more SR on a defeat.
No need to bully one tricks that are good at playing their hero just because you think a specific meta is needed to win a game.
As a reminder, you can win any games with any hero if your team has a good teamplay and if everyone does a great job with their hero.
Forcing someone to play a hero theyāre not comfortable with can often lead to a quick defeat. Flexing can be problematic, just as one-tricking can also be rewarding. Thereās no exact science on Overwatch. It all relies on how individuals work together in a given situation. Plus, the matchmaking is a big lottery, so it also depends on who your opponents are.
Itās more complicated than just saying āone-tricking is bad and must be punishedā.
You are kinda jumping the gun with your thread that is pretty hyperbolic.
I therefore completely disagree with your idea.
So let me get this straight.
I main Lucio. Wouldnāt say I one trick him, but I definitely have by far the most time on him. He is my āgo toā and I do well with him. I get the game healing card 98% of the time and can remember the 2 games in the last 2 seasons where I havenāt had the gold heals. I outheal Moira, Ana, Mercy and Zen. Now, if the situation calls for it, I can also play Mercy, Moira, maybe Zen. I always heal.
By your logic, I should be punished for playing Lucio? I should play DPS (which I canāt play worth a crap) to protect SR gains and losses? And the DPS main who doesnāt know how to heal should take my healer spot to āprotectā his or her SR gains?
Iām sorry but this is by far the stupidest thing I have ever heard.
Isnāt one-tricking playing a single hero all the time, not playing a single class all the time? So, picking Moria all the time is one-tricking, but picking supports all the time is not.
Someone sounds salty they are currently falling in comp
How bout reward more points for flexing? and not reduce for losing? But not a crazy amount either.
āHey guys I know we need a main healer and Iām an Ana main, but I just played her 3 games in a row (because teams always need a healer). Sorry.ā
Lol what a terrible idea.
I play Mercy because battle Mercy is fun. Sorry to one trick!
Thatās not going to work. I have a friend who locks-in on whatever he plays ā regardless of the game. Heās a Bastion main with over 500 hours on the hero and only 2 hours on Reinhardt (his second highest).
I doubt heās the only person that locks on a hero this way. Penalizing him for doing so is simply penalizing him for playing. All thatāll do is make playing more painful and place an artificial ceiling on how high he can go regardless of his true skill playing.
Personally I think heās already being capped anyway for being a one-trick. You donāt have to add another artificial cap on top of that. It does nothing but frustrate such players and not accomplish the deterrence you imagine itāll do.
Plus if heās already in a team that accepts this and works around it whatās the point of having such a rule in the game affecting him anyway?
Heās not! Iām also like that:

I actually have 171 on Junk on this account now. In total though I have 471 on Junk(Most of itās on xbox from before I swapped)
Dont think you should penalize people for winning, but definitely those who win with many heroes should be rewarded.
Versatility should be an asset and a value to be looked for, not otherwise.
I can agree that itās perhaps better to give Bonus SR for flexing and winning than to penalize a player for one-tricking and losing. As I understand it there is a secondary complaint in play anyway on how the game disincentivies players for flexing already.
How many players lock-in to play this or that favorite DPS? How often are some players compelled to play a support or Tank they rather not? Shouldnt these players get extra kudos anyway for sacrificing something for the team by flexing as needed?
