Different DLSS behavior in Normal vs Stadium

Visual Differences in Overwatch Depending on Game Mode – Even with Identical Graphics Settings

In Overwatch, I noticed a surprising visual inconsistency even when using the exact same graphics settings across different game modes. One standout example is the difference in visual clarity when playing in Stadium mode compared to other standard modes.

With DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) enabled, the game looks visually flawless in Stadium mode. Character models are sharp, outlines are clean, and the overall image quality is impressive.

However, when switching to other game modes—such as Quick Play, Competitive, or Custom Games—the same DLSS settings can lead to noticeable outline issues. Specifically, character outlines appear blurry or “bleed” outside the intended edges, creating a smudged or ghosted effect around heroes. This inconsistency can be distracting, especially for players who rely on clear visuals for precise aiming and awareness.

It’s unclear whether this difference is due to a specific rendering pipeline used in Stadium mode or a bug affecting other modes, but it’s an issue worth noting for players looking to optimize their visual experience.
