Differences between original Sym and "classic" Sym

As you probably noticed Symmetra doesn’t really play exactly like her old version. To be honest, it’s quite different. So here is everything I noticed.

  • Photon shields do no work as recoverable shields but as overhealth instead. You can re-apply them as soon as the previous health pool is removed. This essentially turns Photon shields from a passive 1 time use to a spamable 25 “healing” ability with a 1 second cooldown. Apparently, her damage mitigation stat is bugged showing way more mitigation than it actually does.
I wish they did this to photon shields instead of removing the ability entirely. It’s really fun to use. With more health and a longer cooldown it could work very nicely on a support and we’re still lacking one that focuses on overhealth rather than heal botting.
  • Teleporter has 2.0’s health pool. 1.0 TP had 200 normal health while 2.0 TP had a 50/350 split. Not complaining.
  • TP spawn locations are all over the place. Sometimes you have to walk far to the left or right meaning it’s easy to miss. I don’t know why. The old spawns where fine.
  • As far as I know her iconic ult voice lines do not play for the team. So they don’t know when they’re moving swiftly.
  • On Anubis point A it’s not possible to place TP on the very small high ground right behind where the team typically defends (not the sniper spot). I have no idea why but it was a very great spot for TP so I’m sad.
  • When playing with Torb I noticed her shields do not cover his armor resulting in a weird looking health pool. When both buffs are applied Torb’s health looks like this: White HP, Armor, Shields, Armor.
  • It kinda annoys me that orbs use OW2 model. They were cleary not designed to stay in the air for a long time as they stop turning eventually. No gameplay changes though.
  • TP spawns with OW2’s model which disappears shortly after, then OW1’s model appears. I think it’s fun. Again, no gameplay changes.

I’m having a lot of fun playing her and with photon shields and teleporter I feel very useful.

I am not sure about it, but I thought you could not snap off the lock on merely by walking away, but I managed it against one. Kind of weird.

This sym is a corner player. She actually does a shocking amount of mitigation with her overheals.

People are playing her like a dps then being upset. Play her like a support and she makes more sense as an “off support”

I thought the shield health seemed off, I didn’t remember being able to apply it multiple times to refresh the health
