Is there a major difference between Optical and Laser mice with regards to FPS games (such as overwatch)? Is one better than the other?

There is very little difference. One kind can be used on glass and other reflective surfaces while the other can’t - so if that’s a factor for you it could matter. (I can’t remember which one is which though)

yes, optical are more precise, get an optical one.

What about mouse pads?

Steel pad or microwoven soft pad?

I prefer soft, but thats just a preference for me, i find softer pads work best if you are tracking, and harder pads for flicking.

Harder pads will wear and need to be replaced. Soft pads just need to be washed once in a while.
