"diff" is just as bad as saying "ez"

If someone types “diff” it should just be replaced with “played well”, sick of the constant toxicity on both teams. “ez” is toxic, why? You imply the enemy team were easy to beat. “diff”, why is that toxic? You imply that a subset of the players is performing below standard, hence, difference.

Seriously, it just makes every single game the same bitter, disgusting flaming that causes people to lock in non-meta characters to just end the game quickly.

GG is also toxic. You’re implying that the game was good.

I agree - It’s unnecessary, but a lot of people do enjoy being unpleasant to others because it makes them feel better about themselves. Just report them.

i havn’t played ow for a long while, …whats this new thing now? diff? whats that supposed to mean?

I would like to hope that going into the future people who say diff etc can be put on a list for public scrutiny / naming and shaming.

Maybe I’m an old man but what does diff mean? Difference? I don’t get it.

Correct, it means difference. But often used in a condescending manner.

Example;

“Tracer diff” means that there is a great skill difference between the enemy Tracer, and the ally Tracer.

Essentially, you’re saying the enemy DPS who is mirroring one of your DPS picks is underperforming or overperforming more/less than one or the other.

Yes. Essentially if you lose and someone on the enemy team says ‘tank diff’ they are saying that their tanks are better. Usually you see this with a smurf or one trick on one team who is mirrored so you might see like “Roadhog diff” or “Genji diff”. It’s basically a way of saying haha you suck.

Ah, I see. It makes more sense with a word in front. I thought it was just used as typing “diff” in chat.

Also, I’ve never seen this said, lol.

Sportsmanship diff. Also, diff sounds like something that should be banned for nsfw context. Too close to another phrase makes it sus.

I don’t play on PC but it’s typically more of a thing for high ranks from what I’ve seen from high rank players (like Emongg and Fitzy to name a couple)

It started with main tank difference, now everyone says it for any role that gets outplayed in ranked.

Yeah, man, I lose so much to Mercy diff. Their Mercy beams better, bro!

Well, yeah it does. Sucks that a bunch of angry lonely nerds are the majority of gamers, doesn’t it

At this point, I’m kinda wondering if there is any real reason to have cross team chat at all.

It’s pretty lousy to passive-aggressively call out your teammates based on perceived performance. Just say gg and move on.

I had someone on my team say “Mercy diff” when I was playing Mercy yesterday (we won). I’d like to think it actually meant something but maybe it was sarcasm, rofl.

This is a mindset diff

It’s best to just close chat. It rarely contains anything of value.
