Did US central server just move to las vagas?

Constantly getting LAS1 server today which is 90 ping on my end. What happened to the central server that was functional just yesterday?

Servers sometimes get knocked offline for a while. It happens all the time in the region I’m in.

I’m sure it will return soon enough.

I probably shouldn’t be saying this as someone who works closely with the servers, especially in America but recently we have had to relocate the central server due to current limitations on our end. The servers weren’t functioning efficiently and as a result, we have had to relocate players. It has happened in the past with Australian servers where they would be routed to Singaporean servers. I can’t give much more detail on this topic at the moment but this is a temporary solution while we work on the bigger issue that is servers porting to the wrong location.

Also I just made all of that up I don’t know, maybe I guess?

Every once in a while my little Australian server gets routed to Singapore, sometimes it lasts like a week and I only get 120ms games. it’s horrible. It’ll probably last a few days to a week

Were you in a group with people from the west coast? I’m from east, and usually get the central server so like 35ish ping. Sometimes I get the LA server for 75-80ish. If I am solo or with others in east/centra it is almost always the central server, rarely LA, but it does happen. If I am grouped with people from west coast, then that server is much more common.

Nope, I was pure solo. I even restarted the game twice cuz sometimes it bugs out and put me in 250 ping servers constantly before but restart usually solves it.

My usual server is a central server with 48-52s ping. So today getting constant 90 LAS1 server stood out immediately. 2bh I should’ve realized from the queue time since supp isn’t >2 min for the first time in like a months… And I got supp games twice in the first 5 queues which is extremely rare.

I still miss the east coast server. It was too gentle for this world. :pensive:

The server is just on vacation in Sin City. It will not be back if it wins big… But it’s not going to.

I have unplayable lag in Virginia. Servers always have sucked so bad though.

Same here. I’m on the central server and after a few matches I couldn’t take it. All my shots were delayed by half a second or more. Hopefully they fix it soon.

I use Down Detector to check server status. You can look up “Overwatch Down Detector” or Steam, Blizzard, etc. to check all the server statuses, and they will show a graph of outages depending on where you are. Saved me the headache of trying to troubleshoot things that can’t be fixed on my end for a long time. Hope this helps!

Yep, OCE servers being knocked offline is pretty common.

If there’s one thing we can count on, it’s a very limited number of servers in any market (or none at all) and those servers will perform poorly.

Ctrl shift N and look top left

OW servers (or blizzard servers) use airport codes iirc so it’s fairly easy to realized what location they are in.
