Did the matchmaker improve?

I would like to hear how you think the matchmaker has changed since season 2

It has not from my experience

No. Its gotten worse

I am masters 2, have hit it every season and am still getting people on my team who have never gotten above gold or plat before. Ever. Including ow1. Probably the worst state the game has ever been in tbh. You can just tell people are not the same skill as you by how they play.

Have been recording my teammates peak ranks for the last 3 days

[Day 3 of recording my teammates rank]

Currently the average rank of a player i match with is around low to mid plat. Which is over 1000sr away from me in masters 2 so its still completely broken and ruining the game. I probably match with more gold players in a day than masters players in a week. Got my first silver teammate in a while today
 yay

Thats kind of what I thought. I didnt want to just be complaining alone. This sucks. I wish this game could be consistently enjoyable.

Same. I want to spend money on this game but between the state of the game and none of my heroes getting skins, i have no urge to

Kind of sucks not being able to support or enjoy a game you used to like

My games have been worse, but that might be from everyone getting de-ranked. QP is too much of a nightmare for me. I almost got my rank back then it sent me back to the de-ranked rank. Had a losing streak from bad players.

The “mirrored by role” aspect is fine, that’s a great change, but I don’t think it’s the only thing they changed. That alone shouldn’t cause more steamrolls/looser matchmaking.

It looks to me like they loosened the restrictions for forming a lobby even further.

If they’re doing it because of queue times, they should just say it instead of let people speculate about how broken or how “forced” the matchmaker is. The fact is, too wide of a spread present in a lobby → low quality lobbies. They aren’t fun for everybody, and when they don’t address things like “why is chazm doing his rank 1 game with and against non-decayed multiple season peak diamond players?” it makes the system look like even more of a joke than it is. :stuck_out_tongue:

For me, it has improve, because the tank skills are more evenly matched.

There’s still a few hit-&-misses, but overall it is still better. There’s less steam roll games, and I have more games where the score is like 65-100 for example. The games where I do lose in steamroll are usually games where the team doesn’t hero swap to better handle the situations when the enemy hero swap and start stomping us.

A lot of my games are now determine by the difference in healers and dps, and less base on the tank difference.

it become even worse tbh

same the game deserve better…

I am more than willing to wait 45 more seconds for a match. I wonder how many people are playing OW2 nowadays.

Tank matchmaking has improved dramatically at least for me. It was unplayable in season 1 and 2. I’m actually having fun and more playtime than S1+2 combined

Personally I feel it’s gotten worse, at least in my experience.

It has changed, I am not sure it has gotten better. They are probably still tuning the role-based matchmaking.
