Hello,
I used to enjoy playing Overwatch casually, but when Overwatch “2” was released, I lost interest after a few weeks. One major issue for me was the introduction of the battle pass system, which required either purchasing heroes or grinding for them. As a more casual player, I found this approach unappealing and felt the game leaned towards pay-to-win.
Furthermore, the removal of the Looking For Group (LFG) feature was disappointing, as it was where I typically found my 6-stack teams. The new heroes and hero reworks didn’t excite me either, with some feeling overly similar and losing their unique gameplay elements (e.g., Orisa).
Lastly, the shift to 5v5 gameplay felt overly reliant on the tank role, which diminished the overall experience for me.
I’m curious to know if any of these issues have been addressed or improved since then, and what other changes have been made to the game.
To be honest the game gets worse every update. No joke.

At least the heroes aren’t anymore bound to the battlepass, is that true?
Yeah that’s true.
It was a net negative as the price made it too much for new free players to stick around.
It also made for a balance nightmare. Heroes too weak then the pass doesn’t sell.
Make the hero a must pick like Mauga, the pass does great but now the game becomes pay yo win.
The games a hot mess and didn’t make the money it should do staff got fired

Starting next season in (about 2 weeks), heroes are no longer locked behind battlepass.
I think the game has improved since release, but I’m definitely an anomaly around here. I’ve played heavily since OW1 beta. I play all heroes, and I’ve been playing high-ranked comp since the very beginning.
There have been several more re-works. Sombra and Pharah most notably, both of which I think are improvements. Sombra is now incentivized to stay in the fight, not run away every time she gets hit. Pharah is more mobile now, but less about staying airborne all throughout a fight.
5v5 is still very reliant upon the tank role, but there was a big shift this season with HP adjustments for all heroes and a new DPS passive that definitively makes them the best at securing kills. The passive makes anything hit by DPS heroes take 15% less healing.
I think every new hero and map since launch has been great, but that’s just me. You’ll mostly find angry people here, but know that in-game people are mostly happy.

The addition of the game to the GFN library is a huge improvement in my view!
So the answer is: Yes!

Don’t play OW2, do yourself a favor and stay far away. Outside of the occasional QP with friends maybe otherwise I suggest to never touch it at all.
That sounds good. Have there been other changes than the ones you mentioned, like new modes or new community features like LFG / Clans? Is the on fire system back?
I think on fire got reintroduced a few seasons ago, but there’s still no LFG or Clans as far as I’m aware.
This. So much this.
Balance gets worse and worse every patch. Blizzard has stopped even pretending they are not playing favorites with certain heroes. It is so blatant that it is not even funny.
The game is in its best state since the hayday of Overwatch 1.

The game is absolutely horrible in its current state. Its 0 fun. Fun for 2 and absolute frustration for the rest of the players at best. It takes 20 mins to realise how bad it is. Or if you are having a good run, a bit longer.
New heroes break the balance the game once had even more. New patches around old heroes don’t make sense at all.
Its no fun whatsoever, and can’t compare to what brought OW1 at all. Just living on its old glory.
No LFG or clans. Fire system is back with two levels of fire. You can be “blazing” now if you’re really on fire.
I think we’ll get a clan system eventually, but LFG probably isn’t coming back since it was so rarely used. Glad it wirled for you, but it was always empty for me.
We get a new core mode next season, Clash. It’s like a tug of war with 5 capture points in order, and one side has to cap all 5. No offense or defense, just whoever caps to the end first.
We also have Hero Mastery, which is a solo or group PvE challenge mode where you run obstacle courses with each hero in a time limit, or tiwer defense in a group. Both pretty neat, but I like the solo mode best.
So sad that in a team game like OW theres no social system at all. Also, LFG was already there, so even not many used it, why cut it? IT WAS ALREADY THERE!
Same game to me…
Pretty much OW1 (the base experience) with horrible monetization…same game but instead of focusing on improving upon the world they created, just worry about getting people to play a certain amount of time so that they can maximize profits
