I came back to playing Reinhardt a lot this weekend after not playing him for a long time, and something felt way off with his hammer. I couldn’t hit a thing with it. Everyone seemed to be just outside its range. Was it shortened at some point?
Maybe accidentaly when they rebuilt him to get rid of bugs.
God dang it Blizzard!
So it isn’t just me then… that’s good to know.
There was a thing with reins hammer that could be considered “a bug”, the hammer had more range on the side of the area of effect than in the middle so when you were hammering around the hammer would hit something if you where facing sideways but not if you were facing directly at that thing. Maybe they “fixed” that and now it’s always the “shorter” range.
Definitely not just you. The most frustrating was a Hanzo who was right up in my face and whose double-jump was on cooldown, and still, I could not for the life of me make that hammer connect. It felt like mockery.
Everytime they try to fix Reinhardt, they literally break 10 more things.
It’s getting ridiculous at this point.
His earthshatter is buggy, his charge no longer works, his shield has massive delays deploying and retracing now, his hammer swing does not register sometimes and has extra frame delays as well on each second/even swing.
At least firestrike works…
I especially love it when I running for my life and put up my shield and it doesn’t go up for jack s#it (even though it has more than 1/4 shield left) and I die. Good stuff!
This was not changed as I just did some testing.
However, I did find something quite interesting about his hammer swings that was not there a week ago. I just happened to have recorded a demo of his hammer swings a couple weeks ago.
That was last week. However this… as of the testing I just did.
Notice a difference? The range is the same but the bots are getting booped.
Correct me if I am wrong but didn’t Rein’s swing only have heavy boop properties for enemies in the air such as jumping? Seems it may have changed to also apply to standing targets. Which would mean Rein’s may be booping their targets out of their range.
Interesting, if an standing training bot moves like that imagine where would it end something that was moving already. Then again maybe its a thing only with the training bots I don’t know. If it happens with everything definitely could be the reason people feel they can’t hit a thing, they are pushing targets away.
Played Reinhardt a little more last night, and now I’m wondering if it’s less range specifically and more hit registration in general. I was standing right next to a Mei and watched as my hammer literally went through her without registering a hit.
It has extra boop. After you hit people with it it pushes them outside your range and to the side.
I’ve been playing him since the patch quite a bit, I can definitely say something is either wrong with my internet, or something with him was changed intentionally or unintentionally. I’m going with the latter since quite a few others seem to be having the same problems I am.
This is most certainly not the case. The swing hitbox is identical to previous patches as shown in my video’s. It the fact that it boops enemies more. People have gone flying from my hammer when they are jumping.
Is Mei now immune to hammer swings, then?
She was less than 5 m away. She was less than 3 m away.
Got any footage? Because in all likely hood you were:
- Farther then you thought you were
- Under or over swung your target either because you and/or your target were moved via CC
- May have received a quickburst heal or protection via a Zarya bubble ( I have seen Zarya’s bubbles not appear or get damaged so quick the animation does not show up.)
