Did Reaper Get a Buff?

I am seeing him ALOT more and he is shredding. He may even need a nerf

He is S tier this season because his damage potential especially on heroes with 225 health is insane. He still has 300 health btw. and absolutely needs a nerf.

if only there was an exploitable way to play against Reaper

Is there? If so what might that be?

Reaper is actually good for the same reason that Winston, D.Va, Tracer, and Sombra are good.

The 225 HP supports are super juicy targets. And you can play a version of dive Reaper against them that is very effective.

Literally hold the S key

I honestly hate that they tightened his spread and increased his range. I feel like I can’t get away from him now as a non-tank. Once Reaper is near my only options are: die.
I’m not killing a 300 health self-healing monster once he’s already hit me, and running away just makes me die slightly slower.

Sometimes I’ll just stand there and accept it because I know I’m not getting out of it.

And they’re 100% going to megabuff him with the rework. He’ll absolutely be much stronger.

No, he did not. He had 4 pocket heroes that were got either buffed or introduced into the game.

Those being Mercy (supplying him that tiny bit more damage he needs to be viable), Zarya (providing him the 2.25 seconds of immortality, so that he can win duels), Lucio (providing him speed to close the gap, his biggest issue), and Juno (same as Lucio).

He doesn’t need any nerfs because without those heroes, he is just as useless as he has been for the past 12 seasons (outside of Season 1 where he had the same pocket-boosted effect). Nerfing him will make him indescribably useless because he was already useless prior to this season.

It really isn’t. There are like 20 other characters who have better damage potential who were also meta last season with 0 changes. If this was true, Genji would be dominating the leaderboards since, he also didn’t get any nerfs, but is far more lethal than Reaper.

Also, 300 HP is already less than what he was supposed to get with the upscaling of health pools in season 9. If they did it properly, 250 HP characters would’ve been scaled up to 333.33 HP, not 300 HP.

He does not need a nerf to his HP because he would just have a massive hitbox with none of the benefits (not to mention everything being scaled up to kill him anyways, like Rein pin).

He got buffed last season with the weapon spread decrease and faster teleport. While that helped a bit last season its like he got an inadvertent buff this season alongside Hanzo when they decreased the health of all his flank targets.

Completely disingenuous and a flat out lie. Once he’s in prime attacking range, which he can get to fairly easily, holding the s key does literally nothing. He will still kill you just as fast.
I’m extremely tired of Reaper players acting like he’s useless garbage and the only people that ever die to him are the worst players in the entire playerbase.

Why play him them? If he’s truly as garbage as you say, why even play him at all?
Oh right, because he isn’t.

None of the people who got nerfed were characters that Reaper was likely to interact with. All of them specialize in keeping their distance and killing from range.

Oh yes, prime attacking range. 5m away where he can lean over and give you a smooch. Totally an easy to reach distance.

Because he is and they are.

Because people like the character. I wouldn’t have spent the last 12 seasons of the game playing him if I only wanted to play him when he was good. Season 10 he was utterly devoid of any value and yet people still played him.

This is a non-argument.

Indirectly

But a lot of the buffs from the past seasons you can feel. The tighter weapon spread, faster TP, lower health pools for a lot of heroes, Clash being some of the best Reaper maps etc

Still prefer this to the brainless Widowmaker garbage cos I’m not forced off any hero by him

TLDR 225 heroes he can two tap, and juno speed boost ring that can just sit in the middle of the point.

Reaper’s been good for a long time in my experience

Things never change really.

New major patch, something gets nerfed → Early Reaper/Moira submeta → Shifts back to recurrent meta.

He’s gonna be mid/trash in a few weeks once again, like usual, mark my words.

Sure, just buff his damage or passive to accommodate losing the speed boost the OG DPS passive gave which was the reason for one of his nerfs, then buff his damage or passive again to accommodate him for having his passive directly countered by every DPS character. Then release his rework that we’ve been waiting almost a year to hear any details about.

Nope. He’s gotten almost nothing but nerfs since OW2 launch, almost all of which were indirect nerfs, and several for one reason or another are no longer valid since the justification for any specific nerfs are no longer factors, therefore no longer justified.
