Im not shaming anyone for there main I ain’t talking about that, But I feel like Mei and orisa are the only 2 that remember this man is a INTERNATIONAL TERRORIST LEADER! With a body count that make the 4th great ninja war jealous.
Junkrat and Roadhog are also just seen as comic relief, even though they’re honestly kind of terrifying. They’re just two lunatics going on a global killing/stealing spree.
A lot of heroes have some dark histories to them.
Even as a pacifist now, Bastion partook in the omnic crisis and likely killed many soldiers and civilians.
Junkrat and Roadhog are globally wanted criminals with charges of grand theft, arson, and murder.
He is not technically a villain. He is but not really. Yeah talon made widow go blue (Da Ba Dee) and kill her husband but dooms philosophy is that omnics are dangerous and humans should get rid of them etc. He even starts the game saying ‘‘Our future will be forged in conflict.’’
He is basically like thanos. A villain but not really. I think overwatch usually goes with mixed morals or whatever. You have 1 side who always goes with the lawful good option while other side goes with chaotic good option. Basically ignoring some morals to get the thing you think is right done. Like moira healing reyes(reaper) and so on.
To be fair its easy to forget. He carries himself very well.
Culture is in a scary place when a genocidal, self-centered, maniacal fool isn’t a complete villain and considered “grey” somehow.
I blame George Lucas and his attempt at “hero-fying” Vader even though he’s just a short sighted fascist who got tricked by space-Hitler.
No, he’s very much still a villain. Villains are the heroes in their own book, and Doomfist is an omnicidal maniac who just wants conflict for the sake of conflict. He’s very much a villain, but he’s a likeable one.
I’d say doom wants omnics gone because of omnic crisis which hapenned in OW2. I’m not sure if doom is involved with tricking ram into a fight with humans but yeah. This is just my baseline lore knowldege from cinematics+game.
IDK anything much about star wars tbh. But i explained the stuff above.
Edit : He is definitely a villain. Just a one doing the right things i guess? That’s basically saying we should kill every criminal alive in order to get rid of crime. That definitely makes the world a better place for today and the future. But how many people would support genocide and threat to every human that if they commit a crime they’ll die? That’s debateable. He is definitely a villain though.
Edit: He’s confusing morality and charisma.
He is absolutely a villain. On the DnD alignment chart, DF would be considered somewhere between “chaotic evil” and “neutral evil”.
DF’s goal is to strengthen humanity by weeding out all of the weak ones.
Doomfist is a social darwinist. He believes in survival of the fittest, and that instigating a new omnic crisis will strengthen humanity by wiping out the weak. At least that’s how I’ve understood it.
I kind of thought of him as chaotic good having his own morals while still trying to do good. A guy where you basically can go he ain’t that wrong doe? Sometimes. But not sure. That’s at least what i thought when he first got released.
Edit : Same thing goes for Ram too IMO. Again what i thought when Ram got released.
Good implies altruism, respect for life, and a concern for the dignity of sentient beings. Good characters make personal sacrifices to help others.
Evil implies harming, oppressing, and killing others. Some evil creatures simply have no compassion for others and kill without qualms if doing so is convenient or if it can be set up. Others actively pursue evil, killing for sport or out of duty to some malevolent deity or master.
Doomfist doesn’t fit in on the good “side” at all. His goal is having a large portion of humanity wiped out by sacrificing the omnics at the same time.
Considering Talon seems to be about as effective as Team Rocket, it’s no wonder no one seems that worried about them.
And really, Doom’s quite charming and not so lowkey a total hottie - I know I’d sure have a hard time staying hostile.
Welp don’t really know it from the DnD side but on my eyes chaotic means well… chaotic. Like the crime example i talked about before. But like i said i talk from my base pleb knowledge of lore
You mean, really?
Doom isn’t some anti-omnic guy, Maximilien is high table Talon member and Doom its leader.
He’s an warmonger mob boss (check Rialto) who believes in genocide as means to “improve” humanity. He wants war because he believes those who die, deserve so.
That’s as wrong as it gets.
Wasn’t Doomfist’s whole shtick was to cause conflict because it’s the only way (that he sees) that humanity will progress?
Doesn’t necessarily have to be war against omnics but that’s the most convenient considering the political climate of Overwatch lore.
Chaotic good in OW would be more along the lines of Cree or Ana, I.e. a vigilante. Chaotic neutral would be someone like Junk.
His goal isn’t killing omnics, they’re just a means to an end. That end being killing weak humans.
Hmm. I’m pretty inclined to believe doom will do whatever it takes to have his way even if it means making a deal with the enemy. I always saw him as some sort of anti omnic or at least seeing omnics as a threat but i might be wrong. IDK lore that much.
Oh yeah my bad then. At this point i have no idea what’s the goal of talon lol. Like why reaper is one of the leaders and what is he doing there etc.
If someone isn’t acting like a stereotypical villain from an old Super Sentai show, somehow you can’t considere them as evil ?
I would say that some people are a little too disconnected from real life, or are stuck in a teen edgy mindset.
