Don’t pay attention to people who write like the ones in the post above. At first, I thought they were either being paid to instantly reply with nonsense to flood other people’s topics about Blizzard, tag them as trolling and get them closed, or they’re hoping to become community managers someday, or just useful tools. After looking closely at their previous posts, I’m leaning toward them really just being useful tools.
About your topic, it will get taken down, because by their written rules you’re not allowed to publish any replies from Blizzard support, especially if you mention their GMs.
From my experience, that’s a real GM reply, and they probably didn’t even read or try to understand your question, they just answered with something random. That’s how it usually goes.
I had a similar problem once. I opened a ticket because I couldn’t add a friend on a different account. I thought it was because I had just changed my Battletag, so I waited a few days, hoping the problem would go away, and also dug through all my account settings about adding friends. Nothing worked. I tried adding them both through Battle.net and directly in Overwatch on my PC. When I sent a friend request, the other person wouldn’t receive it, only they could send me a request. When I accepted their request, they only appeared on my friends list on the PC, not on my phone. And when I opened the Battle.net chat, it showed them as a stranger and suggested I add them again, even though they were already on my list, and so on.
The problem only went away when that account got banned and I switched to a new one. Everything worked fine there, even after changing the Battletag. Support couldn’t help with that bug at all and no idea what it was.

it’s probably just a canned reply
