It is very likely that when you are looking for news on OW, you will find it on the dexerto site, which is always very up-to-date. however in the last few months I have noticed how the site has focused its news on opinion articles: they look for posts of complaints or common wishes from the community and build an article on it. the problem is that … it’s not news, it’s opinions. no matter how popular they are or seem, you can also find conflicting opinions on the web.
one example is the recent article that says “people are disappointed because Symmetra didn’t have any skin this anniversary”. I don’t know if the author of the article does it to focus attention on his personal desire for the game, but … the argument is simply ridiculous. does not mention at all that what many were asking is to see a beautiful legendary skin in the events in which it is absent (new lunar year, archives, summer games) while for anniversary there are already 2.
this argument is just an example, but the point is: what the hell is this non-news? I would prefer a topic based on an easter egg hidden in a skin than seeing these kinds of articles. as if the degradation of the game awaiting OW2 is not enough… What a shame.

Most of their “sources” for their news articles they get from reddit lol, and a lot of their articles have so much misinformation…
There was one point they tried to claim that a popular Moira/Mercy artist was the creator of Moira’s scientist skin in game because she did a fan art… lol

exactly that is the point: they are articles that degrade the game into what could contain a lot of nice hidden trivia.

This was a cute note for that skin. but no, the news of the day is a “”“funny”“” reaction of disapproval for something.
I mean, there is barely any real news regarding OW.
They are probably trying to keep the website somehow relevant until OW2 gets close to release and the real news start to kick in.
There was a fun thing for a while where Seagull would say something stupid on purpose just to see if it got clipped out of context and quoted on that site.
It often did.
dexerto deals with many esports titles, there is no real need to write anything about that specific game at any cost.
While I know nothing about Dexerto’s structure directly, it is pretty common in journalism to assign reporters a specialization. If someone there is specifically assigned to Overwatch, then there is plenty of motivation for that person to write about anything they can find on the subject.
You think that’s bad, what about the articles every site has about Elder Scrolls 6, a game about which nothing is known at all, and is not expected to be out for at least 3 more years.
Considering they do internet/gaming…“journalism”, they have to keep pumping out articles somehow.
I have a feeling they’re putting out Overwatch “news”, as a contractual obligation rather than wanting to just put out another click-bait-y article.
It’s honestly like clockwork, and I can’t imagine any self-respecting journalist in the gaming sector willingly rapidly putting out opinion pieces on the same game when the field if gaming is wide enough as is and they could be doing any other game.
There's a second opinion for you.
