Devs, what do you plan to do about Doomfist

I was a doom main in OW1, have been playing him in OW2 with a completely open mind and doing anything and everything strategy-wise to make him somewhat viable. The truth is he sucks, and he sucks really, really, really badly. You know this hero is absolute garbage, can you give us a timeline on how long you are going to take to fix him? I’m pretty sure you can check whatever metrics you can check game-wide and see that A: the amount of people playing him has probably dropped 60+% and B: the amount of kills/plays of the game has dropped a comparable 70-90%. Please stop dragging your feet and fix this hero before myself and probably a ton of others decide to quit due to your negligence. If you aren’t a dev and don’t have anything to do directly with blizz please don’t respond i don’t want to hear your “qq moar” or “git gud kid” or “there are other heroes to play…” billsh*t. I played doom all OW1, liked his playstyle, he’s the only hero myself and a bunch of others like to play. Blizzard fix doom or we will all leave - you probably don’t care in the least but at least im making an effort and giving you a heads up.

From OW1:

Cass flashbang.
Hog hook.
Sigma rock.
Brig.
Ana sleep dart.
Widowmaker.
Orisa.

OW1 Doom had more hard counters and more soft counters than any other hero. Top 500 Doomfist mains (there were like, 3 or 4 of them that come to mind) that could style on Tracers and Pharahs are not representative of the entire gameplay experience.

Why do people act like every Doomfist is/was out here playing like Zbra or GetQuakedOn? “Barely counterable,” have you tried using voice comms and clicking his tank-sized hitbox?

Now he’s the least threatening tank and still has basically all the same weaknesses. He loses most head-to-head matchups unless you completely outskill the other player.

I’m glad that some people are loving OW2’s gameplay, but I still see so many problems with the gameplay, and I seriously doubt they are going to crack down and give them the attention that is needed.

  • Symmetra has been handled poorly.
  • Snipers are a problem.
  • Roadhog is still a pretty dumb tank (imo).
  • Discord orb.
  • Sojourn’s kit is a slap in the face to the community after Team4’s whole less CC speech. And her OHK on right click is a problem that doesn’t need to exist whatsoever.
  • They’ve allowed Genji to fester as a problem for an entire week and a day (which I wouldn’t be so mad about, had they not buffed him before OW1 ended, DESPITE the community warning that he would be too good if released as is into OW2’s environment).

Maybe you agree with some of these, maybe you don’t. Bottom line, OW2’s gameplay is far from perfect. And even if perfect is unattainable, it’s still a damn mess. Anyway…

Here’s my idea for a Doomfist Rework:

This is the main problem with DF IMO: The perception of his job.

I hated, seriously HATED DF in overwatch 1. He is the reason I quit the game, and I vowed to never play him. He’s the entire reason I mained sombra for the short period of time that I played while DF was viable.

Recently, I’ve actually picked him up. His kit is really fun, and while it’s underpowered, it’s certainly not unusable. The main issue I see with other DF players is that they’re still treating him like a DPS… which just isn’t his job anymore. You’re not MEANT to get kills. The whole reason they swapped him to tank was to balance out his power.

DF 1.0 had mobility, lethality, and sustain. This was a lot for one hero to have and it made his balance funky. Moving him to tank lets him keep his mobility and sustain but loses some of his leathality.

IMO: He’s bad but not THAT bad. You need to play him more like ball and less like a flanker. Go for kills when it works but your job is to be a tank for your team, not a DPS.

Yeah he’s pretty bad. He kinda doesn’t do anything, worse than Rein right now and that’s…saying something. Rein is better simply cause his stun actually kills squishies. Doomfist can’t even kill tracer with a punch.

Good post and I largely agree (I’m biased about OW1 Doom though, lol).

The second I stopped trying to use Slam for damage and preserved it as a mobility/disengage tool, my winrate increased. And his Rocket Punch has like, a 3 second cooldown now, so you can spam that crap on the enemy tank to interrupt basically everything they want to do.

Use the buffed reload speed to pepper people from a distance and just annoy the heck out of them. Bonus points if you’re good at headshots.

Treat Power Block like a “stay alive until my mobility comes off CD and I can escape” button, not a Zarya bubble. The empowered punch is a bonus, not a requirement.

Furthermore, his ult builds crazy fast, and THAT is when you can go full ape mode. For getting elims, it’s the worst ult in the game. For survival, it’s literally the best. I’m getting used to using it in conjunction with a fully empowered punch to delete people in the backline. Get in like you used to, use your big punch and meteor out. Or if you’re saucy, use it to reset all your CDs and get a juicy health boost (and hopefully a kill) before Slamming back to supports.

Doom’s mobility seems to be his entire kit right now. Unfortunately he doesn’t have the raw presence of tanks like Sigma or Zarya, and will be relegated to the dumpster as long as he’s as vulnerable to Sombra and CC as he currently is (and was in OW1)…

This is his main purpose, as an interrupter. You play him a lot like Brig or sombra, using your ability to cancel enemies channels and ultimates.

Yeah that’s the biggest issue for him right now. Same reason no one really plays ball either, annoying the enemy a little bit used to be an acceptable offtank role, where you would just keep the enemy scrambling while your main tank pushed in hard and defended the team.

Now it’s not worthwhile for your tank to be flanking, cause then your supports are literally just dead all the time to their flankers. Right now Winston just does the job of a dive tank much better than Ball or Doom, so they’ll be relegated to the dumpster.

IT’s Dva, Sigma, Zarya, and Winston those are the tanks that are getting the value and play right now.

yes i try it all the time and succeed at doing so. and it does absolutely nothing. he stays at 100% hp instead of the usual 150%, and kills me in 2 globals. balanced af

Well if we take Symmetra for example, you may be waiting for Overwatch 3
