Devs, we NEED a --> Quitters Queue <--

We all know that there are always a decent number of QP quitters, and there always will be. But lately, for the last 1-2 seasons, especially because eloes are being so mixed up more than over, particularly in QP, the quitters are just out of control.

And I’m not talking about people who quit before the match starts or in between rounds. I mean the quitters after the first lost fight or after ulting and not being happy with how it went, or just after being killed and annoyed.

You can’t even play QP matches anymore half the time. People quit if there’s anything about the match that they don’t like in the very, very, very slightest bit. And trust me, there are a billion things I hate about matches, too, but I would never quit a match. The only one’s I’ve quit have been when someone drops the n-word… so maybe 4-5 times ever.

I know it’s just QP, but quitters not only ruin the match, but backfill players quit at 3x the rate of everyone else, so it’s a snowball of quitting.

Devs, you have got to make quitting QP have some kind of penalty, or at least, keep quitters from ruining OW for everyone else.

I have the PERFECT idea. this is the easy fix:

Quitters Queue

For people who quit X number of matches over the last X number of weeks, put them in the Quitters Queue. The Quitters Queue can just be lobbies full of quitters. Let them quit on each other over and over and over so the rest of us can play Overwatch. I mean, they shouldn’t mind, right? They don’t mind quitters, right, since they quit on everyone else?

And the Quitters Queue might not have the best ping and eloes might be more mixed and unbalanced than normal, but they can avoid that by simply not quitting anymore.

And a “quit” shouldn’t count against you in QP, as long as you leave before the match starts, or in between rounds before the next round starts. And everyone should be allowed like 3 quits per week without being moved to the Quitters Queue.

AND, be transparent. Notify the players when they are put in the Quitters Queue. Keep them there for a week. Notify them when it’s over. Don’t make it a secret, otherwise it’s like shadow penalizing which is a really unethical practice and can screw with people’s minds.

This is a solution no one should have a complaint about. And OW devs, when servers crash, you should have a system in place that assures “quits” aren’t counted.

Or they could just, you know, fix the game instead.

Match maker is still garbage
Challenges still require wins instead of completions
A handful of characters are still allowed to ruin lobbies with nothing being even attempted to fix them.

Instead of challenges like “win X number of games” it should just be “finish X number of games”

I still blame leavers for leaving. Losers who should be punished, but these challenges could be easily fixed to discourage leaving.

I agree that matching is rough, especially for like Silver players bc we are always matched against and with Gold, Plat, Diamond, Master, which makes it really demoralizing being the worst player every match… and I doubt the higher ranks enjoy lower ranked players on their teams.

And I hate some of the hero abilities probably more than you hate them… My most hated are translocator, Mei’s ice block self-heal, and I’ll forever hate turrets.

But that doesn’t mean I’m gonna just quit on my team. If I start a match, I’m gonna finish it. It’s not fair to punish my teammates and all other 9 players because of a hero ability I don’t like or bad matching, that’s not the players fault. Punishing just random people for things out of their control is not only unfair, but an unintelligent approach and selfish.

Not sure what a → quitters what ← will accomplish exactly.

I agree. “Fixing the game” wouldn’t fix bad sportsmanship. Even if the game was perfectly balanced, there would always be leavers as long as there was no real penalty for it. There’s no legitimate in-match reason for quitting, especially if you’re just going to jump in another match. Finish games or don’t queue at all.

It’ll force quitters to play with each other, and therefore keep them from quitting on the rest of the players that are willing to play full matches. It’ll mean MUCH fewer overall matches with quitters, outside of possibly the quitters que itself. And overall, I’m rather certain it would reduce the amount of quitting across the board bc I’d bet people who tend to quit now will think twice after a week in the quitters queue.

I think you are missing some crucial letters there, que is spanish for what.

I know it is. But you’e right, I didn’t realize que was spelled queue, mb, thanks, I’ll fix.

No it won’t.

It’ll just cause them to throw games when they would have quit so that the match they joined with the insta-lock widow that can’t hit anything or the dps Moira will lose anyway. I think letting them just leave is the better option, at least with a backfill you have a chance.

This is QP after all, not sure why you care so much. If you want to try hard and want people to play the way you want them to, play comp.

Nah, other games like dota have a leavers queue and it works extremely well.

I know there are gonna be a lot of people who don’t like the idea… Mostly people who do the quitting. But that’s on them.

It’s not about “try hard”, it’s about being able to play a QP match at all. Comp is way, way, way too toxic to play all the time. Right now, QP is only playable about 40% of the time, the rest is all just quit-fests. And sure, someone might stay in game and throw instead, I’m sure it’ll happen, but acting like that’s what gonna happen every time now moving forward is not realistic. Most likely, they’ll wait until the round ends and then quit, which won’t count as a “quit”.

A lot of people dont really understand that there exists a group of people who want to play casually but also not so casually that they want their matches ruined by people constantly joining and leaving.

For many people quick play and arcade are still intended to play with some level of seriousness and people want to have real matches.

QP is unplayable, unless you really don’t get bothered by potentially playing down a player for much of a match. Much rather play ranked than QP.

I would rather have people in my match that want to try. All leavers penalties do is force people to play in matches where the end up just throwing or half trying.

Backfills aren’t always instantaneous. I had a match last weekend where the enemy team had to play 4v5 for an entire round of control because they had a quitter.

Plus that logic about “QP is just for fun” cuts both ways. Stop raging about things and finish the game. It’s just for fun after all. Play the map you don’t like, put up with the bad play on your team (or the outstanding play on the enemy team). Take a deep breath, you can deal with it.

Can we get a toxic queue while we’re at it, would make the game more fun

It’s not always about “rage quitting.” Although I am sure that is the majority of it. If they fix the matchmaking to where it actually makes sense, then I’d be for harsher leaver penalties generally. But there’s no reason a silver/gold player should ever be matched with/against Masters/GM’s and Top 500’s, even in QP. I understand the “quick” aspect of it, but making it a miserable experience for the sake of a quick match doesn’t help.

Fix the matchmaking then address the constant leavers.

oh just not care because its QP lol. you wanna see people punished for leaving? go play comp

Then 90% of the games will be quitters queues and anyone who isn’t constantly quitting will be stuck in matchmaking forever and still get unbalanced matches too because of not enough players. :joy:
