We all know that there are always a decent number of QP quitters, and there always will be. But lately, for the last 1-2 seasons, especially because eloes are being so mixed up more than over, particularly in QP, the quitters are just out of control.
And I’m not talking about people who quit before the match starts or in between rounds. I mean the quitters after the first lost fight or after ulting and not being happy with how it went, or just after being killed and annoyed.
You can’t even play QP matches anymore half the time. People quit if there’s anything about the match that they don’t like in the very, very, very slightest bit. And trust me, there are a billion things I hate about matches, too, but I would never quit a match. The only one’s I’ve quit have been when someone drops the n-word… so maybe 4-5 times ever.
I know it’s just QP, but quitters not only ruin the match, but backfill players quit at 3x the rate of everyone else, so it’s a snowball of quitting.
Devs, you have got to make quitting QP have some kind of penalty, or at least, keep quitters from ruining OW for everyone else.
I have the PERFECT idea. this is the easy fix:
Quitters Queue
For people who quit X number of matches over the last X number of weeks, put them in the Quitters Queue. The Quitters Queue can just be lobbies full of quitters. Let them quit on each other over and over and over so the rest of us can play Overwatch. I mean, they shouldn’t mind, right? They don’t mind quitters, right, since they quit on everyone else?
And the Quitters Queue might not have the best ping and eloes might be more mixed and unbalanced than normal, but they can avoid that by simply not quitting anymore.
And a “quit” shouldn’t count against you in QP, as long as you leave before the match starts, or in between rounds before the next round starts. And everyone should be allowed like 3 quits per week without being moved to the Quitters Queue.
AND, be transparent. Notify the players when they are put in the Quitters Queue. Keep them there for a week. Notify them when it’s over. Don’t make it a secret, otherwise it’s like shadow penalizing which is a really unethical practice and can screw with people’s minds.
This is a solution no one should have a complaint about. And OW devs, when servers crash, you should have a system in place that assures “quits” aren’t counted.
