Developer Update on Healing

Inspired by this post by Surefour (OWL player):

I would love to hear Blizzards thoughts on the Healing and Damage creep OW has been experiencing since before the GOATS meta.

Blizzard have been radio silent about the healing/damage creep issue. Meanwhile there have been conversations about it in the community for years. It seems like it is finally gaining steam.

I’m not convinced Blizz agrees with Surefour’s take. They just deleted over-heal from Brigitte - which could be used to counter one shots by changin breakpoints - while leaving her HP/s untouched.

Brig was also purposefully reworked into being a healing geyser with 21 HP/s AoE and 3 uses of a 55 HP/s armor pack instead of 1 burst. Yeah burst heal had to go but everything else was just a wreck.

But then again they also have nerfed Moira and Bap’s primaries, while also buffing his Shift AoE.

Here’s a prediction though: Bap’s healing nade is going to have its radius nerfed from 3m to 2.5m or even 2m.

I mean, what’s the problem with it anyway?

IMO it’s a more fun experience and it isn’t any harder or easier… it’s just a different game now than it was. You get scary burst and reliable spike heals… you still need very fast decision making…

It’s okay the way it is, I think. Everything is very fast paced, decided quickly… I think slowing things down or making it more difficult in a clunky/awkward way (like it used to be) takes away from it and I like the way OW has gone… it’s very reflexive and fast and lots of pressure and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that.
