Developer update in nutschell

  • We heard that you hated events being the same again and again, so we decided to F you and you can expect halloween event to be exactly the same again -

Bruh, i get they are working on different things and torb rework etc., cool.

But their ignorance and disability to adapt and change their 3 years old calendar is exactly what will bury this game :(.

A huge amount of playerbase left and there was no answer to it, this update was kinda chance to shine again and nothing, yet again. Just my opinion… but to see such a huge potentional of Overwatch being thrown away makes me sad kinda.

i’d take balace changes over new skins and modes every day.
At least now they are clear about it and why summer games was as bland as it was.

Maybe, my issue is that i just cant trust them anymore that they couldnt do both at the same time.

they tricked me too many times to believe them ever again :/.

Imo iam certain that balance change isnt the main reason why they ignore events.

well why did the player base leave? please tell me!!!

simple because the balance and bugs has ruined this game.
all the events ever did was gloss over the issue the game had.

now after 3 years they are trying focus on fixing the issues.

you think a short term event will fix the long term issues of the game and suddenly it will shine?

Repeat ad infinitum.

I feel as like it doesnt take a whole team of developers to make bug fixes or skins though. They could probably have a group of like 10 guys make 1 new game mode

Fun fact: Goldman Sachs is expecting an expansion for OW to be revealed during Blizzcon.

Imagine if it’s true, oh the face of all the people constantly complaining about the devs doing nothing. Cannot wait to see if it’s true or not.

Lets see then :). What kind of expansion does he expect?

Goldman Sachs is an investment bank, not a person. They predict Diablo 4, a diablo game for phone and an expansion for OW, no details given about any of them.

I actually like having the same events every year. I get to look forward to the same Christmas songs every year the Thanksgiving dinner and resulting leftovers are always appreciated despite not changing much year to year. I view them as similar holiday traditions I get to look forward too. Also, how would you like it if you’re favorite holiday mode never came back?

They won’t ever change the events, it’s just classic Blizzard I’m afraid.

Forum complaints in a nutshell :

  • If you do X, its bad. If you dont, its worse.

Haters gonna hate, complainers are going to complain.

Move on.

Basically this. I wonder how many Blizzard employees have contracted depression from these forums alone.

ok but the problem is that the events have been bland for a while and during those periods it was clear that substantial effort was not being put into balancing the game. we’re just now starting to get decent balance changes again despite no apparent effort being put into the events

I don’t get the whole “we’re focusing really hard on character balance and little features over big features” thing.

Yeah, and? Did you fire all your character artists too?

did people get laid off or something

hey im looking for a job btw

Eh, junkenstein’s is kind of fine. The difference between keeping Lucio ball for the billionth year in a row and keeping junkenstein’s is that the latter is actually fun

I don’t think events should be seen as a primary vehicle for this game. They’re really just a fun little extra that pops up occasionally. The core gameplay is deep enough that there’s always a new way to play or new skills to learn. The game is about getting better and working together better. It’s not a “new story/content” type of game. I wish people wouldn’t get so hung up on the extras.

I’m more like, zombie present.

I don’t mind the re-used events.

It’s just the Summer Games one that I dislike. Lucio Ball is stale, boring, and clunky.

I like Junkenstein’s Revenge, I like the Overwatch Archives event, I like Winter Wonderland, etc.
