I think faster projectile would be a much better compensation and cancel or mobility for ult would be great.

This is where pharah getting more mobility has more sense.

Biggest problems right now:

  • kiriko cleanse is stupidly Op and dumb. it counters ults that take mins to build like earthshatter, blizzard and rampage and even Ana antinade, Cass bomb or Sombra hack ; remove the cleanse for more heal or bigger invinciblity
  • mercy pocket boost skyrocketed to the roof with the removal of 1 tank and its very oppressive and low skill high reward right now. you pair it with the typical hitscan / spamrat / hanzo / pharah and it’s a gg on the receiving end ; remove it and give Mercy her offensive staff you’ve shown in the PvE video
  • junkrat is by far lowest skill hero in the game and his entire kit is filled with cheese mechanics. there’s no brain required to play him, its basically auto pilot. he needs self damage back and mines damage + cc tuned down
  • genji still has insane mobility and is very hard to punish
  • mei has too much tank ability in the kit even with weaker wall and freeze removal she is insane and needs more nerfs on sustain
  • high risk 1 shots that demand skill like widow, hanzo and sojourn are fine in a fps. low skill ones like junkrat are not and should be addressed
  • ana needs the self nano booat from ffa added and her ow1 sleep cooldown
  • ashe needs a small reload buff
  • cassidy is one of worst heroes in the game. guy suffers from poor mobility, crap range, horrible sustain, fat hitbox , you name it. he needs more range to be rewarded for the aim on the gun and his flash to be competitive again etc

One-shots and frustrating hero mechanics are being discussed a lot in the community and on the team. This is an ongoing discussion, but the topic has a lot of nuances that involves the frequency of those mechanics, trade-offs for using it, the overall power level of a hero, how often the hero is played, as well as things like a hero’s fantasy. Know that we’re listening here, the feedback has been great and very welcome, and we’ll come back to this when we have more to share.

One shot’s “can” be healthy.
Just need not be 100% uptime. Ults for example are fine as they are not always up.

random hanzo/widow head shot thats their primary? not so much fun.
especially since map design is so beneficial to sniping.

  • long paths w/ no cover (push bot start area in paradiso)
  • payload/push require a person to be with the objective & thus a sniper knows exactly where someone will be (you can’t NOT be by it and progress)
  • capure maps points have no cover and again you are required to be on it making you easy pickings.

Soj’s “use primary to charge sniper” was a good way to make a sniper more healthy. (as a mechanic) just need a way to adapt it to others in a way that feels good w/o being busted.

Also for sanity’s sake don’t allow any “sniper” role to get damage amp effect (snipers should NOT need it as they alrady rewarded with big damage from the role of sniping)

Also as a Support: Sniping/one shots are extremely awful.

Our job is to support team…except if an ally goes from 100% to dead in .01sec…wtf can we do? We can’t even do our job as one shots remove support from equation. (only lamp and rez can work but both have so little uptime & have risks/timing that doesnt match up to ease of 1 shots)

With role queue if youre fighting sniper whos good…and ur TANK wont be a barrier you are at disadvantage.

If your DPS won’t flank or counter snipe (though advantage in a snipe duel is the one who has sights 1st) you are gonna be at disadvantage.

100% up time Sniping (which is basically every one shot outside ults & maybe point blank hog/reaper gun that all hit critbox) is also why Pharah will never work (pocket or not)…as she is just easy pickings as there is no cover in sky.
Lowering uptime of one shots means she could actually get more use (still wont get a ton as her issue won’t go away until strong hitscan dont exist)

I get that you’re shooting for “we need to improve our communication” after 4 months of nearly nothing at all but there is absolutely zero authenticity in this. It reads like horrific corporate PR speak and damage control.

There is zero actual acknowledgement of the community being upset with genuine and very real problems the game has. It is constantly framed as if the community is at fault, that we “misunderstand” or that we are “confused”.

We’re not confused Blizzard. You’re confused. And when you use language like this you just piss everyone off because it comes off as shifting blame. You aren’t taking responsibility for the community being unhappy with YOUR development choices, you’re shifting blame to the community itself, it’s gaslighting.

Playerbases like and respect companies that communicate with AUTHENTICITY with their players. Companies that acknowledge openly the problems that exist and sincerely intend to fix them.

This reeks of having absolutely no intention to change anything, no intention to actually listen to the community at all, and every intention to do exactly what you think should be done internally for the pursuit of your profits rather than the pursuit of the playerbase’s happiness.

The nature of the relationship between this dev team and the players that want this game to be the best it can be feels completely adversarial.

Is it me or does everything they promise always seem 2 seasons away?

They promised big support changes in season 2 and 3, to make the role feel more enticing to play.

In season 2 we got a bunch of Kiriko nerfs, good buffs for Ana, and minor buffs for Moira, and Brig. Mercy changes were a joke.

I assumed brig rework would be season 3, but now it’s at least season 4.

Kiriko feels worse to play, and none of the other supports feel any better.

Are we going to see big changes in season 3?

I’m not holding my breath.

In 6v6, sure. Although even then one of the first posts I ever made years ago was that snipers (aka long range oneshots) don’t belong in overwatch. But it wasn’t the end of the world that they existed.

In 5v5, oneshots cannot exist simply because one death is the end of the fight. It is not exciting or thrilling gameplay the moment your zen peeks and dies immediately, because either you will push and lose (wrong) or stand there and wait for him (right?).

Add onto that 1 tank means your tank cannot simply go off to terrorize the sniper like they could (sometimes) in 6v6. Tank has far too many responsibilities to be able to focus on this, and must rely on others. And one of the major dps sniper counters, was doomfist.

  • Ranked SR is confusing - 100!%
    • I want a fix for the hidden SR and 7/20 system. Comp on OW2 requires some grind for a single win in lower ranks (silver/gold), even more, and hours of playing for 7 wins for weekly challenges and it SUCKS not knowing how many wins or losses I have and where I am landing on the SR scale. I really want OW1 SR back… why “fix” something that wasn’t broken. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I’m looking forward to Season 3 but I have to admit, it’s a bit hard to enjoy the game atm and I’m pretty sure a lot of people are feeling the same as well.

I would really like them to put comp rewards back to how they were in OW1. I like to play all the roles but main support. With how it is I only get rewards for just one rank. Why have a game promoting playing multiple roles if you only reward them for one? It’s a waste of time and stress

The new Ranked mode suffered from poor comprehension. There was confusion around players’ real rank and how that translated to their skill level, difficulty forming groups with friends, and a negative impression of the matchmaker when players of different ranks were put in the same match (even if their skill levels were similar). We will be implementing some changes in S3 and quite a few more in S4 all aimed at creating more clarity in the system. 1- We play competitive for a reason. Our rank should be visible in matches. It’s our medal. For this to work, SR needs to be more accurate. Discrepancy between MMR and SR is too high in OW2. If we are gonna have a grind based SR system, our MMR should be transparent to us. If you guys don’t wanna show our MMR, then our SR should represent that more accurately without 50-60 games of grind.

2- I like the idea behind 7W/20L system but it’s too much especially alongside of rank decay/grind based SR system. 7W to 5W might be an improvement and a less decay in new season.

3- Competitive matches are frustrating because matchmaker playing with us. Please make the system more transparent so we don’t get tilted/mad. Let us know more about matchmaker so we can be prepared for it. The overall experience is annoying and doesn’t encourage player improvement. Leads to toxicity instead. Instead of hiding everything, try to improve your player’s skill. Hold your player’s hands. Let us know what skill level is our match. Which player have what skill ? How should i play ?

My takes about balance and one shots:
The game getting better i think. So we have to wait and see. I like the Kiriko change so she has small drawbacks now to compensate her powerful suzu. I would like to have quicker number updates for weak heroes. Brig and Zen could use some small tweaks here and there so players of these heroes have a better time especially when the meta not favor them. These players are facing extreme toxicity and their heroes aren’t viable in most situations. I hope Zenyatta’s now outdated ult will have some tweaks in S3. Mercy’s mobility needs slight nerf.

A big topic that i think should be as big as one shot topic is the Ana’s nade. This ability is out of place. Please tweak this. 4 seconds of heal block completely takes away the enemy player agency. This ability is stacked with damage, heal, buff, debuff, 4 sec duration and only 10 sec cooldown( 6 sec effectively) especially now we have only 1 tank, Ana players can spam this to enemy tank making the game absurd.

Sojourn: Hitbox of her character model and her mobility is absolutely crazy. Her identity railgun is ok but it’s mind blowing to me guys are allowing this crazyness. Let her have some trade offs. Frontal hitbox size increase and slide cooldown nerf is needed.
Widow: She should be 150hp. Simple as that. I would also make her weapon shine when she is scoping.

Junkrat: His bombs have too big hitbox. His spam should be dodge’able easier but big bomb hitbox and coupled with the ping/netcode, it’s frustrating.

Hanzo: Could be reworked to ‘‘poison arrow’’. Initial damage lowered but dot applied. Some power could be transferred to his ult. His dragon could show up earlier, reducing the distance between Hanzo and dragon spawn also speeding up the casting time maybe.

Sombra could be reworked to sup role instead.

Career Profile stats
Please give us more stats. Show us our losses and show us our ‘‘per map’’ performance. Show us our ‘‘per role’’ performance clearly.

Cheat
There are a lot of cheaters in this game. Maybe they don’t affect the game in grand scheme of things but it’s extremely unpleasant experience for players. Please do something about it. Most players aren’t aware how these cheats work so if you spot one and say report them for cheat, you get blamed which makes things even worse.

And ana into dps.

No, stop, she can’t and won’t.
If you want to queue dps, queue dps.

That’s not going to happen in the next 2-3 months.

Any more than you’re going to give me $100,000 in the next 5 minutes, and a pony.

The idea that they could go literal years with bad matchmaking, just because a relatively small amount of players don’t want Support buffs would be economic suicide for Blizzard.

Personally, I see there is a subset of players who dislike low ttk in games. As a preference of course. And I don’t think the number of players on a team will change that. We could argue the extra tank or shields offered more protection which may have alleviated some of that sentiment against one shots but I think that complaint will always be there.

And if the developers hope is that 5v5 is a more solo-like tdm experience or something closer to another “fps shooter” then, fast deaths and instant shots are a usual component to that genre. Like a cs:go, or cod or something. So, I think that will generally remain, unfortunately for players who don’t care for that.

Because of that, I don’t realistically see the devs going back to 6v6 or removing one shots any time soon. Especially with the time invested into it. Perhaps they might be more willing to adjust a character like Sojourn but only because she has ways to make up for it. She’s fast, has viable alternative gun, is quite mobile relative to Hanzo and Widowmaker (they have tools for mobility but its different and she lacks penalties).

Before I digress and lose the point here but I just don’t think it matters much with which way devs choose. I think one shots in some form will remain. So, what they could do is find ways to make it “feel fair” at least lol.

Stop asking for loot boxes back.

They are exploitative and predatory regardless of whether you can spend money on them or not. Just stop. Come up with something new.
