Developer incompetency incaptchifies

Has anyone tested creating a Battle.net account on the latest Chrome version in incognito? (No cookies or localStorage)

They stuff a 15-question captcha in your face, where if you get 1 wrong, you redo the entire thing with 5 extra (20 questions). On top of that, you don’t get to know which one you got “wrong”.

After you wither your brain cells solving some of the most ridiculous questions that look like some IQ test at a glance, you then get a nice message that says the captcha ID is invalid because something is broken in the backend and they’re too busy farming money off skins to notice it. Nah, the system must be perfect guys! It’s a feature not a bug, stop da smurfs you know.

Hell, even this guy is having an issue:

Same effect on firefox, except it’s a 20 version of “total number the dice say” with like 6 options each, and at the end you have to do it again, because you weren’t fast enough. Account creation doesn’t like incognito.

Yes, except it’s not just incognito, that’s just one of the configurations I found that reliably triggers the absurd length captchas. I had it triggered in normal chrome. I told the developers about it in a ticket and they didn’t seem to care.

I don’t really think it’s a blizzard specific issue since I had a ton of problems creating a steam account and getting through the captchas.

Couldn’t get through on steam client, or on the mobile app, or on Firefox, and I don’t remember if chrome worked either.

It is their problem for using the captcha provider!

shouldn’t you be posting this in technical forum ?

You having 10 accounts and trying to escape this using VPN or Incognito is not blizzards fault.

Every bot uses the same method.

Try creating an account in incognito on twitter and see where it gets you. This is nothing new. Turn off your incognito and then recreate.

You did not read what I said. This happened to me on my normal chrome without incognito.

You have VPN on ?

Or you did not pass the test and the program thought you are a bot trying to figure out how to solve it.

I didn’t have a VPN on. The test is triggered via JavaScript checks when it finds attributes suspicious. Unfortunately a lot of morons make these checks too aggressive. Cloudflare’s Turnstile and Google ReCaptcha (to an extent) do it properly
