Dev read this: Overwatch on Oceanic servers console

I am a huge fan of overwatch and I have played console since season 5 now, however it wasn’t until around season 13 that I finally reached masters. However, I am from Australia so I reside in the oceanic region. When I got to masters, I realised there was a few master players on the servers, around 40 masters. However, now since it is season 21, the playerbase has dramatically decreased and now, only around 20 masters play on our servers.

Now I love this game, but it is extremely difficult to find a game as we all literally have to organise when to que at a particular time. And normally it is from 6pm to 10pm. But if you want to find a game other than this, you will be welcomed with a 2-3 hour que and eventually get teamed with plats versus six diamonds. It is just ridiculous that these are the games and that if we loose, we loose 50 sr but if we win we gain 15-20 sr.

I just believe that we should be able to find games without having time constraints which we que. We as an oceanic community perform quite well against console American players and European players as I have often played with friends over there, but we just need a way to go to other servers without the use of a vpn or having a friend from the server. We currently have 2 grandmaster players, of the 20 players over masters that play on the American server via vpn.

This has been a big issue that has resulted in countless people leaving the game on these servers, and I believe to keep this game alive on console especially the Australian servers we need to have a server select option as they have on pc. It would benefit the community so much, more and more people would come back to this game because they would be able to find games. Also the question still remains, why does the Australian server exist under the American top 500 leaderboard if we cannot play on the servers.

If not a server select, at least take the American lobby and integrated into ours so we can have a chance to get on the t500 leaderboard. Because for people that love this game as much as you do, such as me and cannot play games and cannot climb at all, they start to question why they r playing and the sr gain to loss ratio is too punishing when you get on plat teams as a master. The lag is not an issue, the input delay is so easy to play with it is no issue at all.

This would be the best option as I believe integrating both the oceanic servers and American servers together in comp que as they have done in the top 500 leaderboard will attract old players that have left the game because of the issues raised above and it will completely solve the problem of overwatch being dead in the high ranks on console here in Australia.

We have some skilled and very unique players in this community and it would be terrible not allowing them to be apart of the big community of the American server or allowing them to climb where they belong. Is this a possible reality? Do you think, that this would be a possible reality, where the things above could be fixed? Do you think Overwatch would make such a change to our community in order to revive it as it one was again?

The number of players that have decreased was ridiculous. Multiple top 500’s and very stacked games until season 7-8 then everyone left, now leaving literally, 20 players in masters which is the highest rank on these servers. Excluding the two gms on our servers that mostly play on the American servers via vpn anyways. Its just some people cannot afford a vpn and have no friends from that side of the world.

Its just everyone that plays overwatch should be given the opportunity to interact with everyone and have games that are their rank and be given the opportunity to climb. I just hope that Blizzard fixes this game on console in Australia so it can be just as alive as it once was and it can be easily done by as I said, integrating the American servers and Australian servers together in competitive rather than just the leaderboard or having a server select just as pc has.

I just wish that you bring this issue up with blizzard because since we are a small community, we haven’t protested and written about it on the forums or reddit so they may be unaware of the issue. Its just this is not fair and it is something that needs to be changed. we just want them to become aware and we just want the likeliness that they would fix it and it wouldn’t have happened if we just didn’t say anything.

Just to note, this is the wrong forum to leave feedback for developers. Instead, you’ll want to post this in Competitive Discussion.

However, I wanted to point out one concern with this idea. Just as you probably don’t want to play with over 200ms ping, neither do most people from other regions. There are only two servers in the USA, but they serve everyone from Canada to Mexico to the Caribbean (in some cases), which means a lot of those players would have horrible ping on Australian servers. For instance, the ping from my location in North America to Australia is 230ms, sometimes reaching 300ms. A lot of people would be in the same situation, making it difficult for them to enjoy the game, as well.

I do think a region selection on console is a decent idea, but I think it’s been addressed before as something that won’t be changing for this game.

Well written post! Facing similar thing with SEA servers

Please do not necrobump posts that are several years old.
