(edit again): i fixed my game for about two weeks, then the halloween update was added and it messed up my game again. i haven’t got any of my origins edition skins, so essentially y’all took 40 dollars from me, but that can be excused, but this game breaking performance issue which definitely has an easy fix on your end is not excusable. I might have even bought your battle pass or 30 dollar skins if the game would just run correctly lmfao. I really hope upper management can clean house and hire better developers. Hate y’all.
OLD EDIT : i have been trying to fix this for 12 days now! no acknowledgement from one developer for ruining one of the most optimized games.
I tried just about every fix I saw on this forum for a way to stop the frame drops and none of them worked, oddly enough this fix which had nothing to do with my issue fixed the problem.
Go to command line arguments on the blizzard launcher, then enter this : -tank_WorkerThreadCount x -thread x -d3d11
(Fill in x with how many logical processors you have, you can check this in task manager.)
After launching the game I was met with perfect performance. If it does not work for you, respond to this and I can try and help you.

i turned all my settings to max, but turned off all the new settings. make sure anti alias is on, and borderless window
same, it worked for a few games but returned the next session. Everything was perfectly fine during the beta and the first few weeks. Just the last update.

Same worked for first matches, then back to same situation.
My first guess game is under a massive memory leak, because between matches OW2 ins’t unloading unused assets properly and trying to unload after you load a new match forcing massive CPU load to call bunch of class destructors.
(In my tests i MUST manually force memory cleanup using RamMap, overwatch itself uses only about 100MB avg RAM on main menu, idk why this just increase quickly up to 2GB~3GB if nothing is currently loaded)
My second guess is on render thread, deadlocking in some point making render thread stop sending draw frames to GPU.
In my environment, my second guess is happening alot. Something unknown in middle of render thread is blocking render and my game stuck in last rendered frame without GPU usage (because render thread cannot feed anymore frames to GPU)

I hope this get fixed when game leave from “early access” phase, aka in 2023 when PVE comes. Or else they will loose many players with this problem

crazy how not even a moderator in the forums has acknowledged it

I’m having this same issue, and this did not work for me. There are a bunch of people with this issue. This is on Blizzards end.
Blizzard help us. Many of us played for overwatch in the past. I did buy for my whole family to play along and this bug is chasing us since the release of OW2 and NOBODY gives and answare. At least put it in your “know bugs to fix” so we can know you guys are doing something because get a sensation we are being left in the shadows.

Frame is operating 160 FPS on average, but still notice chokes dropping it below 90-120 fps out of random then back to 200+ back and forth. Honestly this game was incredibly optimised and suddenly turns into a mess after a title update.

i fixed mine, there’s a lot of programs messing w overwatch 2, so u might have one of them. drop a dx diag i can help
Please
I reformatted my computer and it still didn’t work
You didn’t have to go through that length, it’s poorly optimised.

it is the game acting up, but i still fixed mine by deleting all the programs that the dx diag said we’re creating problems. don’t knock it till u try it
so ive optimised all my computer options for performance, optimised all the game options, alternated between triple/reduced buffering and nvidia reflex options (using reflex with no triple/reduced buffering right now), tried -threads 2 then found this post and tried your solution, also tried dxdiag which came up with no problems.
but no matter what i try, im ALWAYS having the same problem: stable 120 fps cap until i step out of spawn, then it drops to a sluggish 50-60. ive seen it drop to the 30s on character select and on one occasion it stuttered to an unplayable level. before a recent update heavy firefights would average around 110, which i had as my cap so everything ran smoothly. then i open the game a day later and suddenly its stuttering like hell.
the only game ive ever had performance issues this bad with was dmc 5, but after i changed a few options it worked fine eventually. didnt play ow1 but ive also heard people say it ran perfectly fine in comparison to this game. hopefully a patch comes out soon man

Sadly they dont care for this problem once game is free to play. Its very rare an developer team/group focus on these problems because they use as argument “if only 1% of people have this problem, then game works and its only that people fault/issue”
I saw this alot in Warface (an shooter game)

For me it is hard to assume the game is free to play even that i know it literally is because I PAID FOR THIS, I put money on this company and now they are treating the comunity like that. This is driving me nuts.
