Deranking and Throwing groups in LFG

Is there something we can do about these? I see at least one almost every single time I browse LFG queues.

See? just opened up the LFG queue right now and here’s one:

I Report Group Title, and then report the group leader as well, but haven’t got a single “thank you for your report” screen in forever.

Went against one of these groups yesterday. All had the same Shanghai dragons player icon, all but one had private profiles of course, and they spawn camped us on Horizon and let us win by taking one tic of the point. They didn’t touch the objective at all when they attacked, they just spawn camped us. Then of course there was the memeing in match chat about how they sucked, they C9’d, etc. and even admitted they were throwing.

Can something be done about these groups? If smurfing wasn’t that big a deal before, it’s certainly going to be now that these guys can get together and throw their way down without fear of being reported. They’re not going to report each other.

And a couple of the players on my team were hesitant to as well for some reason, with asinine justifications like “Hey they can do this all they want if they’re giving us free wins” and other such nonsense.

Seriously, as much as I love LFG and appreciate the work in bringing it to us, it’s really becoming a problem how along with the private profile disaster, it’s enabling smurfing and matchmaking manipulation to a level not seen before.

Clearly, this aspect of it wasn’t thought through.

And everyone says that “Why you dont go LFG?” or “LFG and you can win” but no one knows that how many trolls and throwers hiding in LFG too. LFG is like a russian roulette.

Also Blizz banned Custom Game name: “AFK farm” and “XP farm”. Why they cant ban LFG with Throw/Derank/Troll in it?

You can throw safely without risking report by using a normal title but locking 6 of the same role. 10/10 LFG design

On the bright side, this is way better than solo throwers in your games

It is, and it’s one of the good experiences I’ve had with LFG.

But what happens when these players all get as low as they want to be, and feel like stomping their way back up?

“LFG other sleazebags who deranked to Bronze and want EZ wins back to Diamond.”

You don’t need anyone else than yourself to stomp in low rank but yea this thing could happen

They didn’t ban anything. All they did is prevent people from getting xp in skirmish matches. Actually I was curious and I joined one of the lobbies myself just to see what is happening there. I was greeted with 11 people playing soldier and using scripts to autowalk and autoshoot. I assume scripts are for bypassing the inactivity timer.

If you’d look at custom games, you’d see that there is a ton of xp farm lobbies out there. Funniest part and probably the most conspiracy provoking thing is that those lobbies don’t get removed even if I report them and then a hour later get a notification that says that ‘a person you’ve reported has been penalized’. I look back at custom games lobbies, and there I see the lobby I reported. The same lobby I was told to be removed (assuming the report notification removes the lobby on top of penalizing the creator. why would there be an option to report lobbies if it didn’t remove??). And no, those report notification couldn’t have been from other reports I did. I made sure to not report anyone for a week just to test this out.

Blizzard? Maybe a response would be nice?

To be honest, I don’t see a problem with throw groups. They all could be people on your team if your solo queuing.

Instead, like minded people are grouping up to accomplish a goal. Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.

You don’t see any problems?

  1. Instead of a nearly guaranteed 5 people reporting them every game they throw when they solo throw (other team rarely reports throwers), they will receive almost no reports, so they will never be banned.
  2. People don’t derank and then stop playing. They derank and then come back up. You don’t see a problem with a GM level player on the other team in your Silver match? Well now there’s significantly more of them, because they never get banned because of #1.

Exactly what I was thinking. Much rather them all ruin each other’s SR than throw my games.

Fair trade off imo. Less throwers in my games, more smurfs.

I get 2/3 “Thank you” every week, and those groups are mainly the only thing I report. So…

Honestly, I would rather have a GM player trying in my rank than throwing. I have had it happen to me. One game they were blatantly throwing while on my team, and the next game they were trying (?) against us. At the very least they were not just standing there and rocketing themselves. Still won though. I do not care about rank. In my experience (from QP), there is barely a difference regardless. Like, have you ever played “guess my rank” it is basically impossible to get right and your best bet is to just guess gold or platinum as they are the most highly populated ranks. I went against a top 500 Widow in QP and went even. Not going to lie, I was not taking unfavorable engagements whatsoever. But still, feels good to get them to switch to Genji and try to spawn trap me.

I do not care about your opinion on rank manipulation then. Why even come into this thread and post?

/thread muted. Bye.

I know it’s beside the point, but where does it say I’m sliver?
