Take my take on a whim. THis mode shouldn’t have had this high challenges, nor have been solo-only. This is an event, it’s supposed to be fun, not sweaty tryhard. Somehow they managed to put both the worst things together and it’s literally not fun.
This mode could have been a PvE and I would have enjoyed it beyond belief.

We wouldn’t have to do that if Blizzard didn’t make us kill 300 people as Widowmaker for a Challenge.

That’s what sucks about it, you can’t play it with your friends. So people that don’t play deathmatch and don’t play solo are going to have an awful time. It alienates a lot of the playerbase. Not to mention that a lot of people don’t even play the characters here. So if you don’t play a character in this mode and suck at them, you’re probably never going to get that challenge done.

The problem is not having any sort of free content if you ask me.
Back in OW1 with the old system people were simply rewarded for playing, they got XP for boxes with pretty much all sorts of rewards. The only rewards tied to events were sprays that, in most cases, were rewarded during normal gameplay, everything else was for hardcore collectors but thanks to the flow of free cosmetics casuals didnt went out of their way to farm, and thus, ruin the game modes.
Now, there is no semblance of free content, these titles and sprays are the crumbs that free players can get without dishing money so more people are going out of their way to get something that they dont have to spend 20 dollars on. And thus this creates the problem of people farming gamemodes because, due to the horrid challenges, they wouldnt get any sort of content otherwise.

I’m trying to play it and it feels like a 40 hours job.
I need to get paid to play this mode, it’s so incredibly bad.

I mean, you’re not really SUPPOSED to unlock every single title. It’s kind of like the Top 500 title/player icon, these titles are supposed to be rewards for committing into a hero, and titles are for showing off anyway, serving no real purpose. The voice lines are very doable on the other hand. If everyone had all of them they wouldn’t be special.
Nobody is forcing you to grind 300 kills for every single hero…
I don’t think you understand, this is the first event that’s undoable. Every other event is functionnally doable within in its timeframe. I’ve played this for 6 years and completed everything, even the really darn impossible stuff, but this, FFA, it’s like unfun, half the cast is tank into an arcade mode that’s already gone off the charts for being bad since OW2 and with literally unfun mechanics in general.
What this event could have been instead :
- Select the god you wanna face, multiwave with the god picked as the final boss
- Gods sent in waves
- a 4v4 TDM as well or other modes, not just FFA

That would require way too much effort. You would need to develop and model enemies and create a fun boss design.
Blizzard is testing the waters on their monetization returns, they need to see how much a low effort event skin ad such as BfO will return to them.
The idea is to get lots of skin purchases without wasting too much dev time on stuff, to have the least effort. If they keep doing events of this caliber, its because its working.

Hence why it’s the worst event. They did nothing, put skins, put trash mechanics and a little tweakings for some new divine stuff.
If there’s one thing this game runs on, it’s the events, if you don’t do them right, it’s going to drive the community negatively. And this is is what it’s currently doing, but it gets them money, maybe less and less next time.
Then again, if most of this was planned ages ago and held on for a while, then they had time to deal with it. This is a bad showcase for upcoming events, I’m expecting re-used assets again for already existing events since WW’22. They literally add nothing and put it back again.

I don’t blame people,300 kills is a lot for non usual Deathmatch players.
I’ve never had this happen tho.

This is doable too. I only have around 2-3 times a day to play, and I pretty much get all the 300 kills on each hero in that sitting, and maybe a bit more for the next. You have two weeks.
But not one title in the game is supposed to be an easy unlock.
People will optimize the fun out of anything if given a chance. …
and if you make a challenge that’s no fun to begin with… well…

Just happened 4 times in a row for me. Left all 4 matches. This is ridiculous.

I have 1 time a day at most, that was enough to clear all legendary modes in the past years for me. Same with all the poop achievements for Lucioball and WW modes. 300 kills requires an actual investment into the mode rather than quickplay/competitive.
The others never required you to play more than 1 game to complete the hard stuff if you knew what you were doing in the first place (excl. the challenges like play with each heroes). 300 kills in FFA when u have 1 to 2 hours every 1 or 2 days means this is just retarded since I have to :
Not play with friends, because FFA
Not play QP/Comp, which arguably are better than arcade modes since the OW2 transition
Hope to get close to 20 kills in every game, knowingly some people have 1k hours in FFA and only play that as a part-time/full-time job.
I don’t have the patience for this mode and FFA since it’s unbearable in the first place. It was much better in OW1. BfO should have gottem TDM as well and I would have slightly enjoyed it more.

I prefer this than the mode they created. First cause what they ask for is dellusional for a skin in the given time and second cause at least theres some sense of community.

you only receive an old skin from ow1.
I applaud this community helping each other to unlock things in this horrible game mode.
