Crouch walking does not completely muffle your sound, many characters can easily be heard even while crouch walking, from a pretty good distance as well, specially if theres no other distractions going on and with just a tiny bit of game-sense, anyone can check for flank routes every now and then randomly, i know i do.

Just hear their kill-cam and you can often hear your muffled crouched footsteps if you look for it.

Hacks have existed for OW2 sense before its release, nothing new there.
Most the time its just people knowing to keep an eye on flank routes.

the give away should be if they are pre-aiming, if they are lining up shots before you round the flank ect.

If they aren’t already aiming at you. Than they’re not cheating. They’re checking for flankers like you. I always look up and left when on Attack Rialto. Because I’ve seen enough Redshell videos. To know where a Lucio will come from.

Uhm, that definitely isn’t true. You can use cheats and be smart enough to not stare at people through walls.

If you killed me or my co-support on your first flank attempt, then I promise you I will have my paranoid head on a swivel for the rest of the match or until you swap/leave. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me, so you better bet I’ll be glancing behind me constantly.

Even if crouch walking makes a sound, I still crouch spam when I can’t afford to crouch walk, but normal walk would be too obvious. You do this by spamming the crouch key while holding W (to walk forward). I think it helps a bit in not getting caught too soon without the need to stay crouched the whole time and walking slowly.

I don’t know where I learned this technique from, probably from some streamer.

It’s wack because I never hear flankers, even if they aren’t crouching, are jumping up and down and are playing Hog. I don’t hear anything until they’re literally 3 feet away from me. I’ve tried changing my sound settings both in-game and out and nothing happens at all. Sounds from behind just don’t work for me until they’re super close. It seems like this must be the case for a lot of people because a lot of people don’t hear me when I’m standing directly behind them, even shooting past them and jumping up and down.

Then I go on the forums and people will say “I’ve never had this problem, sounds works completely fine for me. I can hear a Tracer sneaking up on me from 50 feet away.” I don’t really get it. Is it my soundcard or something? I’ve even tried different headphones.

Also, I just find it a bit sus that at that exact moment when I just so happened to be there, that is when someone breaks off from the group to go looking for me. Happens a lot. Like why did they no go looking 5 seconds later, or 5 seconds before? I’d say it’s bad luck but idk man, and it’s always on my first flank attempt in the match so I don’t ever end up trying again.

If that wasnt your first time trying to being sneaky, they were expecting you. That works exactly once above bronze.

When this happens it’s always my first try

You wouldn’t know if they checked at other times, because you wouldn’t be there to see it lol

I look behind me constantly when there are no team fights going on, precisely because there are no team fights going on and I don’t know where the enemy team is.

It sounds like it is a “brain issue” and not a “sound issue” that you can’t hear people flanking, I play with someone that has GM aim but Diamond game sense (in his own words), and he sometimes tunnels and doesn’t always catch people who are practically touching his character from behind. The only reason he reached GM in the first place is because he plays with a top 500 support and a GM support who compensate for his game sense via comms. There is no magical answer or fix for your problem, unfortunately; people check for flankers, especially during down time.

Also, if people don’t notice or hear you when you’re jumping up and down and missing shots next to their head, they’re not a great baseline for what to expect from others.

It’s called having awareness of the flank path and making sure you mark enemies using it so they’re forced to burn mobility cooldowns.

This is a constant problem for many people and it boggles my mind they have not fixed it. I can hear widow clopping around from across the map but reaper walking above us about to drop and blossom is SILENT.

This is simple. They do not have the problem so they cannot imagine ANYONE does. I assure you it exists.

You know, something doesn’t add up…

Maybe try sneaking around when people are either out of range or in a fight.

Someone who’s not in a fight is looking for something to do, it is the highest threat time frame for people that are “sneaking”…

You wouldn’t make a good Spy is what I took from this

It depends.

Most of the time now. Players are using that PING system that they put into the game from Hunt Showdown. Its a way for non comms players to communicate where a player is and chances are some player was just so happening to watch behind them and MARK your last known location.

If there is a tattle tale player on the other team. you will suddenly become focused and there is some player OFF looking for you to destroy you for flanking.

I’ve had this happen where suddenly 3 players peel off and go looking for me and hunt me down until they nade’ me. Even as far as following me all the way back to their spawn.

The positive to this is. When you flank, and it is a payload. That payload is no longer being protected.

I play this way nonstop, I’m always on a 360 swivel and spychecking by firing into empty space when sombras are on enemy team

Maybe after the 50th time of it not working you’d stop trying to do it? The best time to flank is during a teamfight when the enemy team is distracted, not when they have all the time in the world to be looking around and peeling for their teammates. Basically, skill issue. (also Merry Christmas :christmas_tree: :sparkling_heart:)

Crouching still makes foot steps, they are just quieter. People also just check flanks or going on flanks themselves. As a Mercy player I’m always hyper aware of the threat of flankers and constantly listening and looking around and tend to ping when I see someone or hear someone. Even a quick corner of the eye movement can cause someone to notice you. Just because you are crouching and going on a flank and someone figures it out, doesn’t mean they are cheating.

Ah, Loona pokes their head in again to give nothing but insults.
Hope you’re still having fun tbagging people after you get mad at being killed in every game.

usually this happens when i dont realize some one has seen me from behind and they ping me. They can literally do it across the map, it works a little too well on flankers and fast moving characters tbh, giving their exact position away as they move for a couple secs.
