Hiding teams and ranks is part of Blizzard’s new innovative match making system to keep queue times low. Matchmaking might be worse than ever, but at least you’re not waiting 20min for a game!
I’d wait 15 minutes to not go up against this
It has been this way for a very long time.
Blizzard has done this since World of Warcraft. They want players to play together. For those of us that fly solo, we get treated like DIRT.
Best thing a person can do, is to LEAVE the match.
It won’t be a fair match and if the system isn’t going to be fixed. Then do what I do and leave.
The most tell-all is everyone has the same ICON and that is a plenty give away that it is a team stack I am about to play against. If they have nobody to play against. The match closes and they are forced to find other games or disband the group.
Keep in mind though that just because someone on the enemy team is trolling doesn’t always mean they’re stacked. In one of the quickplay game, I was actually trolling for the first 2 minutes on lucio in King’s Row (on attack) by just pressing W to the wall and letting the enemy kill me repeatedly.
Somehow my team managed to push the choke and cap the point. The enemy then started accusing my team of being stacked. Personally, I think our team won because we were just better. I didn’t get the sense that my team had any crazy coordination at all, they were just doing their own things and got a few lucky picks.
My team didn’t get upset by me trolling, since it was only for the first 2 minutes. But it was long enough for someone on the enemy team to think we were stacked because I was playing around not trying at first.
Similar thing happened in competitive mode. One of my co-support was on mercy and she was trolling by only damage boosting her allies, with zero healing. Somehow our team managed to win the game with just me as baptiste healing everyone else. Nobody was stacked on our team, it was the matchmaker giving us strange, but winnable games.
It’s the way they coordinate, deal with flankers, talk with each other in match chat, know exactly when an enemy leaves the teamfight, etc.
Oh if they’re talking to each other in chat like they know each other, that’s a dead giveaway for sure.
I wished they were solo queues already. Why can’t this indie company do something good for once.
35 million players but no solo queue mode. Sus
Everyone wanted speedy matchmaking, this is what you get.
One of the most likely to be true conspiracy theory stories of this year.
One change some people have said is that stacking/grouping would be available only for 2,3 and 5 player groups.
So stacking with 4 people wouldnt be allowed, as this would prevent the 4+1 situation which may not be great for the single one off.
And I understood some other games do this.
It sounds quite reasonable to me.
Then maybe like 3+2 vs 5 stack would happen more often than being the oddball out.
Solo queue would also be great but I really wonder how the queue times would be, only blizzard knows
How do you know they’re a 5 stack?
4 stacks obviously must have a solo player in the game. 3 stacks and 2 stacks are difficult to match properly if they can only be matched together. 5 stacks they’ve said they try to match together, but if they can’t find a good MMR match, IMO it’s better to use a mix of players at the same MMR or a little higher.
Theres a sort of way to check if people are grouped up by trying to invite them into your team.
You’ll get the message if theyre already grouped up, and then you can sort of deduce from that, what was going on.
But i dont think its a sure way to tell if there was a 5 stack or not.
I 100% agree, but they legitimately dont care, nobody from blizzard reads this forum, they pay more attention to reddit than they do here. The only thing blizzard care about are numbers and queue times - they dont care if your games are fair and they definitely dont care if you’re miserable.
You USED to be able to see stacks in game. You still could in Arcade mode. They removed it from RQ in QP and Comp, supposedly because being able to color code groups (like they do when you’re in a group) was too difficult for the poor devs.
It was always a poor attempt to hold matches together because solo players knew that games with/against stacks weren’t worth the effort and people were leaving games. So rather than making the games feel good, they just hid everything and lied to the rooftops about it. Typical.
Yeah I’ve heard of people doing this, which to be frank I think is kind of pathetic. But even then you can’t prove that it isn’t a 3 + 2. You’re better off just actually asking them, although there’s a decent chance they will lie to you just to troll.
Well yeah, dunno about the pathetic but anyways the game used to show this information.
Imo it would be still fair to show up if people are grouped up.
Me as a qp solo queue warrior, I know certain 5 stacks that i run into every now and then, in qp I think it is more common than in comp. Sweaty games.
invite players to group - and see “already in group” - i do it as soon as I suspect they are grouped and id say 80% of the time im right. It’s just so obvious, groups play differently, they are way more coordinated - you really dont stand a chance as a solo player.
It’s just such a waste of your energy. If you’re really curious, invite the people who just seem normal too. A lot of people play in groups.
