Y’all I literally can’t even delete this. What I said was extremely poorly worded and I want everyone to have fun. What i honestly meant to say was that it felt like dps mains were looked down upon (for some reason or another). Sorry bout that.

Oh. Another wait to see everything you like about the game be destroyed before complaining post.

See here’s the thing. I get that you don’t seem to like the changes so far, but you’re ruining it for everyone with the unbelievable amount of complaints. We haven’t seen enough to make a decision yet, just the Sombra and Bastion reworks. Please, try it before complaining.

Blizzard does not go back, once the changes are put out thats it. Thats why people complain before the changes happen.

You might want to add a “to” to the title.

I think it’s :

  1. As you alluded to, there are as many DPS heroes as support and tank combined. This makes for some resentment I think and further makes DPS look like the “fun” role.
  2. It’s much easier to be, or at least it’s more noticeable, when someone is a little bad at DPS compared to tank or supp. If you’re playing Widow and you’re not in the killfeed for five minutes and you’re stuck on first point then it’s not a big mystery what part of the problem is. You’re much more dependent on mechanical ability on DPS on most heroes.
  3. A lot of DPS players are also really obnoxious. I’m much more likely when playing support to have a DPS spamming they need healing or whining in chat compared to other roles. So that kind of splashes back onto you whether you do that or not yourself. DPS are also less conscious of their positioning I’ve found, so this leads to a lot of LOS frustration, especially when DPS players complain about no heals when they don’t seem to understand a support’s limits.
  4. I think there’s some solidarity between tanks and supps a lot of the time because they are playing what is commonly perceived to be the less fun roles. That just means that sometimes DPS are the odd ones out and get to be the scapegoat for the other roles.

Fair enough. I’m just kinda tired of being yelled at for having fun.

I don’t have anything against DPS players. I think they’re terribly boring, but that’s not really hostility.

What I do resent is the devs warping a game I used to love around the experience of a single subset of players. To better satisfy their whims. I blame Activision-blizzard for this though.

You think you’re tired of being yelled at for having fun? Try having the characters you love and have fun with absolutely DESTROYED so “you” can have fun playing DPS. That is the problem and it’s why you face the bulk of the resentment of virtually every Tank and Support main in the game. Well not tanks most of left or quit that role long ago. I play support now all the time and I do so SPECIFICALLY to make sure those brave enough to tank live. I lost the desire to heal a DPS character long ago. Thanks to the abuse you suffer for not chasing them into bad positioning and running to Rez them when they put themselves on a suicide mission. When I tank my supports always get a shot caller. Period every time. When I heal…tanks live… it’s my little way of “having fun” in a game that no longer wants me to have fun.

I’m saying this as flex player who leans DPS: Have a little empathy and understanding for the less privileged roles.

Blizzard has yet to show anything particularly exciting (especially in the case of Support) about OW2 for Tanks and Supports and yet there’s been a whole lot looking negative. On the flip-side, there’s been an awful lot of cool news for DPS.

This is after Tank and Support have had incredibly limited rosters since launch and continuously been told for years to “Be patient, lots of wonderful heroes are in the works for you”, and of course, that never happened. Hero releases were slow and equally split between all roles despite the disparity before ultimately going dark for OW2. The only new hero shown for two years? DPS.

Complaining now is the best chance for getting change, release will be too late. If people are worrying for nothing, well then that’s a fumble from Blizzard and they can easily soothe the community by better showing how Tank/Support will be in OW2.

People like to blame dps for the power creeped damage output in this game, when it is literally every role contributing.

Yes, playing supports that have their healing nerfed by 25% before making a judgement… right.

At everyone else’s expense. That is what you did. So, it’s going to backfire on you: you will suffer massive queue times because no one will do Brawler / Support in DPSwatch.

Maybe because devs only see tanks as a problem in the game? We all know that 1 tank is not the solution. So what they are going to do when they realize that everything they’ve done was not enough to make the game better? What is the next step? 0 tanks?

The hate is more towards the devs for giving tanks and support mains the finger and telling us to go play mini/worse dps

  1. Y’all destroyed a lot of players’ favorite heroes so you can be the star or one trick your favorite DPS and climb.

  2. Y’all parrot the opinions of streamers/OWL pros to accomplish point #1.

That’s the main reason a lot in the community just dislike DPS mains off top.

“Not get kills …”

Many (including myself) don’t need to play the game, if it’s going along with the same :poop: logic that the Tank and Support balancing has gone along with for the past 3 - 4 years.

If that was the case, then the outrage would be substantially less. But the ruleset of the exhibition match says otherwise.

I personally haven’t been flaming DPS players, more so Blizzard catering to DPS players. Which I can’t blame them for, they are the majority. But that’s only because they have taken very poor care of the other two roles and have for many years at this point.

And no I don’t think I’ll wait, even if there’s a 0.1% chance complaining on this forums gets some changes, I’ll continue to do so. But if it makes you feel better they aren’t directed at DPS players specifically. :slightly_smiling_face:

You should be just as worried IMHO.
