I’d rather be rid of profiles. And rank be kept for your own use only outside of a match. Like overwatchtracker or overbuff. Totally separate from the game.

I will never understand why other people need to see my profile…

Why even bother to look at others profile?

Especially mid game.

Like focus on what is happening on screen. Stop e stalking and pay attention :joy:

Why do you need to check my profile if you suck?
Gig gud. For real. Don’t try to find excuses.

They are not gonna remove them just because they are hypocrites and they want a “safe” and “not-toxic” environment (meanwhile the game is full of toxicity, cheats, and throws).

Let’s leave aside, for now, the argument “why you should see my profile?”… we did not even have that argument before the private profiles so… stop… its hypocritical.

They need to give us a middle solution… somehow separate the people with the open profiles from people with the private profiles… something like that…

The other solution is for people to stop giving too much attention to their egos… In theory, you do know who you are and what are you capable of, why are u getting offended when someone calls you silver player? (even if u are not silver). For example I main Mercy and I am in the diamond rank. I do know that I can’t possibly go a lot higher with that pick and cause of my lack of skill… But I do know that my skill is for just Diamond. Why should I get offended if someone call me Silver since I do know my capabilities?

They should, but they wont, because people need to hide things apparently.
Its also funny that people with Private Profiles, who apparently dont see any reason to look at anyone’s profile … are ABLE to see other’s profiles.

That shouldnt happen but then again, it does so welcome to OW’s contradictions

I’m just interested in who you play.
Whenever I see a high ranked player, it makes me wonder who they have the most hours on, or what game mode they like to play the best.

I also don’t play comp, so I don’t have my own current/up to date SR. So being able to check the SR of people I play with gives me a small idea of where I might be playing.

I agree. Profiles store objective data about your performance in the game and being able to access that data is a very valuable asset in evaluating what you should try to do in a game with a grain of salt. Ignoring this considerable benefit is just naive. In fact we should get even more stats mid-game on the tab screen and be able to see our teammate’s performance too so we can try to be more objective when evaluating what is going on in a game. Having these tools available would incentive players to be smarter and also remove some of the doubt about what’s going on within a game so we can look at players in a more realistic light

Dear god know. The amount of crap I got from people wanting me to play Moira or ‘why are you on tank!?’ or “why are you on DPS!”

Private profiles stopped all of that pretty much dead to rights. I no longer had to justify being Ana or Lucio instead of Moira to people…

I may think private profiles are irritating, but the stuff they put a stop to was far more irritating.

Nope. I had open profile and had to listen that I can´t play dps cause I have more hours on support - nope. Nobody is here to judge my skill based just on hours played. This abuse happend often and report doesn´t make any difference. I have my profile now open just for friends and nobody is bothering me anymore.

No reason to look at profiles in the first place. You’re stuck with your teammates either way, so don’t stress yourself out with unnecessary snooping.

Every single person that makes these threads is the kind of person that gives Overwatch community the reputation that it has.

Cause they wanna abuse you to switch to the character, what you have most hours on. No, thanks.

For example, my profile gives wrong info about it cause my favourite arcade is mystery heroes - I have bunch of hours on heroes I don´t really play, I have quite bad stats on most of them. But yeah, I have majority of my hours on support characters so people felt entitled to yell at me, when I picked dps. I don´t need that anymore.

It actually did exist.

The whole reason people wanted private profiles in the first place was because of the argument of “You don’t need to look at my profile, so just stop”.

If they were to change this, I can guarantee you 90% of players wouldn’t care, because we’re not lying when we say it’s dumb to look too much into player profiles.

Honestly, changing it would probably just help people realize that their own profiles are private by default.

To see who you’re good with & who you have no business using.

Only I have the power to determine that

Sure, I won’t play widow in comp if I have 0 hours on her

But if my record shows that I am a mercy main and have tons of hours on her, I will still try to play other heroes like brig or lucio (Example)

I don’t want people to say "You have more hours on mercy, only play her or you’re throwing
