The 5v5 game is going to suck a lot of… you know… 1 tank… why not 1 support or 1 dps? If you are having an off day as a tank you might as well be throwing. They shouldnt be changing to 5v5… The other reason, well we all know blizzard is a money hungry company. They love nothing more than money, at the expesne of their followers, 5v5 with 2 dps is a clear OWL stunt. More flashy plays… more views… more money
Yeah uhh no. Goats was meta for anything above diamond, and if the enemy team was playing it (playing it right with zen, Lucio, brig, rein, zar, dva) then you had to mirror it or you straight up got run over. There were alternatives but they were much harder to play than the comp itself.
The point of role queue was BOTH to fix goats since they refused to delete brig and actually fix it, and to force players to play real team comps. Not one or the other
Man so many people refuse to see the issues with the tank role. Tanks are absurdly powerful and have way more impact on the pace of a match than DPS or supports. That’s why they repeatedly get nerfed and become unfun to play while STILL being powerful.
The synergy between certain tanks is why so many different annoying metas happened. So we nerf and nerf and nerf tanks, they become unfun, people drop the role, and hike up queue times for supports and DPS.
By removing a tank, you cut down on the tank power in matches, which allows them to get buffed and become fun again since they’re the only tank. This helps tank player retention and attracts more players to the role, which also helps queue times for EVERYONE. It also eliminates obnoxious double tank comps (Rein/Zarya, Orisa/Hog, Double Shield, etc) so matches can feel more fluid and DPS/Supports can feel like they have more impact.
The only downside to this is the increased pressure on the tank player. But if the role is more fun because tanks themselves are allowed to be more powerful without being oppressive, then it should balance itself out.
Wouldn’t tank/supports providing more value than dps be the cause? I mean if they were equal in power level from the start then goats would never exist and by your logic RQ wouldn’t exist.
Too many tanks in the field of play and DPS lose value in their existence. Not enough “DPS Lite” (supports) and DPS lose their value in their existence.
IDC what the devs want to say.
Those of us who played this game know Role Queue was implemented to stop GOATS.
Tank mains now avoid OQ because they don’t want to be the only tank. Or they don’t want the other tank swapping to Tracer halfway through the match.
But if RQ didn’t exist, there would simply be more tank players in OQ.
If you doubt any of this, put together a GOATS group for QPC. I regularly ran it with friends in 2020 in QPC and we rarely lost. It’s still just as potent as it was for all those years. Role Queue and Quick Play have seemingly erased this from everyone’s memory.
I think it was the tipping point, but I also believe that role queue was always in the works.
I don’t believe a word these devs say.
I don’t think role queue was ever in the process until OWL players started complaining.
Nothing in their previous history suggested it was.
GOATS and Dive were essentially the same thing, the main difference is that GOATS stuck around for a bit too long.
I sort of assumed that the devs were working on role queue in the back because of the loud minority on the forums.
They were absolutely not the same thing.
The creation of Brig is what ushered in GOATS. Dive has more or less been a day 1 staple in OW.
They don’t care what we post on here. That’s more than obvious.
What they care about is their precious E-Sport and it’s ratings.
GOATS was horrible for OWL. Fights lasted forever. TTK was was incredibly high. DPS were virtually non-existent.
OWL is what ushered in Role Queue, not anything else.
The fact ladder players also hated it was just a coincidence.
The majority of the player base are DPS mains… What you propose is nonsensical.
Also, we don’t know yet whether 5v5 will suck.
They’re a company… What else did you expect? Also, the fact that fights can drag out for too much time and the lack of individual impact in Overwatch have always been major complaints by normal players and 5v5, at least on paper, addresses that.
Once RQ dropped I left it like the hot garbage it was and now I simply play QPC in the arcade, along with a few other modes. Many others quit playing altogether or followed suit. And even than the VAST majority of my games are 2/2/2 or 1/3/2. Enjoy your long queue times, bros!
So why should there be 1 less tank. It puts more pressure on the tank player. And why should they have more pressure because more people wanted to do the big plays/blizzard more money and so on.
No 5v5 is just another in a long life of failures in this game…
You must be lucky cause I always got yelled at for my choice. “Brig isn’t a solo healer.” Yeah neither is any healer if you think about, so shut up and use health packs, GENJI.
Because, when you halve the amount of Tank players required for a game to start, you double the amount of games that can be formed with the same amount of Tank players compared to before, which therefore theoretically halves everyone’s queue times.
I don’t understand everyone’s cries when we have both QP Classic and Open Queue Comp, with queue times shorter than going dps in Role Queue. Why do you want to remove a system so many wanted and so many love, when the alternative is still playable without any negatives?
To have a unified playerbase. I do not even care which side they pick. But the queue times and matchmaking are a bit embarrassing at this point.
QP Classic would be the open queue since it came 1st… But as i stated it puts a lot of pressure on the tank. What if you are having a bad day… youre throwing.
If youre having a bad as a dps or healer you have a back up.
No 5v5 is a bad move for the game and needs to be stopped. DPS dont like the queues. As you stated… there is open queue. go play that
It didn’t make “1/2 the roster not viable” of the cast of 30 heroes, 6 were viable. Role que is staying, if you want EZ free win cc sap spam heroes go play something easier
But high sr players will, and this is why 222 needs to stay. Lower ranks will only see dps comps and hate it and higher ranks will only see goats and hate it. 222 improves the quality of matches for everyone with the exception of queue times
Nerp, the game company that has the control over the game actually caused it’s existence. You know, the people who coded it and implimented it?
It’s not like every idea they’ve had has been a winner ~ idk why you put the onus of blame on the community when they have virtually no power in the scenario.
It was ‘caused’ by Blizzard’s choices at the end of the day.
