The Early Access is the final 2.0 Patch for PC & Consoles. It’s called EA, cause the PvE isn’t in this version of the game.

its like an open beta, but available for everyone

pve makes sense i guess…but perhaps also pvp isnt totally ready yet?

It’s likely just another marketing phrase they’re using instead of Open-Beta. I believe Infinite used similar phrasing.

Early access = beta++

This way they can excuse their premature balancing and release it again for beeeg media hype.

PvP is finalized then BUT getting frequent updates & changes according to the Activision Blogpost + what Mike Ybarra confirmed.

It’s the new final game. OW1 is getting replaced with the OW2 Early Access version. It’s a live service game which get’s frequent content updates, etc.

PvE is not ready for release, so they’re releasing just the PvP portion of OW2 and calling it an “early access” and making it free. (Similar to how Halo Infinite was released.)

Early access doesn’t mean beta.

Early Access means they’ll release the game but the game isn’t finished, kinda like no man’s sky or Cyberpunk. Except here, you already know the game isn’t finished and it’s being worked on.
Subnautica was on early access for 3 years. The devs were listening to their community and so that’s now one of the best indie games on the market.

In the case of Blizzard it means the same for them. They call the open betas early access for some reason.
it could be different this time but unlikely.

Did they confirm this? I feel like it would be weird to replace the game with something labeled early access.

It’s called Early Access, cause the PvE isn’t done yet. It’s the final OW 2.0 Patch.

We don’t know that.
Maybe the story mode isn’t finished. Maybe the PvE isn’t finished either.

why not…thats what the version OWL was going to be played on this year was called when they announced it last year
