Dear Forums, I cannot aim

I can not aim, and it makes me sad.

What am I supposed to do? :frowning:

It’s the hardest skill to learn so don’t be discouraged. There are youtube tutorials that you can watch and then practice yourself in the game.

What is your sensitivity and DPI ? It matters A LOT.

Practice. There are no shortcuts, if you don’t have the talent, you have to put in the hours.

Dont know if troll or not. But you can try the tutorial for a little lesson of aim and then try training are or try vs AI in different heroes. There is Projectile (Orisa, Hanzo), Bullets (Widow, Soldier) and Burst fire (Genji, Lucio)

Play support or tank

HERES ONE GOOD WAY TO START

I like to keep both Horizontal and Verticle in the aim settings on 47 each.

This can help you get started with proper aiming

Play Mercy, Winston, D.Va, Symmetra, Moira, Brigitte, Junkrat, Zarya, Reinhardt

In game sensitivity for most played dps hero is 3.25 at 2000 dpi (which I believe the dpi was just the default).

Pick one hero that you like and is aim dependant, put hours on him. If you like training, do it. Play in a way that its becoming daily routine, and with time you will see results. Don’t expect to go hard on it and see immediate results

Hours are put in, skill hasn’t improved.

Make sure you have sensible sensitivity and mouse DPI, and you’re using a comfortable mouse.

Basically, what you’re looking for is to put your mouse in the middle of the mat, and move it to the very side (either). You want that to make you turn 180 at least.

Low sensitivity is best. The lowest you can stomach. It’ll usually take a few weeks to adjust to it after you change it. That’s normal.

There’s different kinds of aiming (tracking, flicking, predicting, etc.). Hitscan and projectiles are different. Learn the different kinds.

You’ll also need to make a concerted effort to specifically practice aim. Go onto a custom deathmatch server with no abilities or something, and just have a go at clicking people with McCree or something. You basically want an environment where your own DM (deathmatch) skill is the only thing that matters. You’ll really suck at first, but you’ll get used to it. You won’t get it from playing QP/Ranked.

Playing a more difficult/aim-intensive game helps too (just make sure you use the same sensitivity). I normally recommend people to grind out loads of MGE/SoapDM on TF2 (which is free), because players are much faster in that game, and all DM classes are pretty much a direct hit or total miss. There are other alternatives, too.

It won’t happen overnight, but you’ll get there. If I have to say anything specifically to do:

  1. Make sure your sensitivity/DPI is good, and you have a comfortable mouse and mouse mat.
  2. Practice in an environment where the only factor is aim (like those custom Widowmaker DM servers). It’s one of those things where you won’t improve it unless you work on it specifically.

Play Moira!
Her aim is fairly forgiving, and she should be a good introduction character to practice your aim.

This is one of my favorite videos to learn about aiming.

Warning… loud popping noise at 1:33

heroes who need aim in ow are trash anyway.

Practice. If your basic mechanics suck, then those Ana bot drills will improve your aim by a dratic amount. Trust me. After that you can go into death match to improve your duels vs other squishies and that one c*nt that picks D.Va.

Warm-up, look at your target, not your crosshair, always aim slightly above your target to set up for a headshot.

ZARYA??!! LOL. Zarya requires insane tracking! And even if your aim is good. Zarya is not an easy tank to play

Zenyatta is so bad 4Head

Choose McCree > Disable Fan the Hammer and Flashbang > Spend 30 hours learning how to hit shots > Spend another 40 to hit headshots

Really though, I think what you lack is a clear understanding on the fundamentals of aim and how you can get better.
