Dear Devs: Pls remove weapon switching mechanic for LW

I find the weapon switching mechanic so frustrating, especially this time on the new hero Lifeweaver. Please just make it simpler - left click and right click just like Moira and Kiriko. Please please please!!!

if only he had 2 hands…

Yeah, it feels clunky on every other hero that has it. Not a fan of weapon switching as it currently operates in this game.

Agreed. I’ve never been a fan of the mechanic, either. It seems to exist more out of necessity than any actual design merit, and Weaver doesn’t need it. As others have said - move his dash to double-tap-jump similar to Hanzo, move his flower platform in place of the dash, move his second weapon to the right-click of the first one.

When switching to healing is an active choice, you end up disincentivising people from doing it. It doesn’t help that his heal is pretty bad, as well.

I couldn’t agree more with this suggestion. Sublime idea <3

Would have been nice if his dash was a double press of the WASD keys and shift was the platform. That way his primary and secondary could stay on left and right click

Yeah, but he only has 1 Prosthetic Hand.

Use character specific keybinds.
make his reload into weapon swap.

He auto reloads (all swapped weapons reload automatically after like 1.5 seconds or so).

Now you never have to manually reload again, just swap to your needle smg and spray some baddies when you need more heal flowers then swap back, or vice versa.

Weave between damage and heals with a simple button remap instead of reloading. Now you have less downtime and get more value out of him.

Problem solved.

no, not “problem solved” since you still have the weapon change animation+delay. Who cares what button you need to press if the result stays the same

It’s ok, some of us play Mei, and have animation+delay on shooting

It is just the weird control setup they went for.

You dont have to reload if you are swapping between both longer then the normal reload speed.

So it incentivizes using both weapons throughout the fight. Basically if you are skilled enough you wont ever be reloading with him much as you spot heal and poke damage.

Its a nice gameplay flow. Wheras healers like baptiste reolad both healing and damage magazines.

Its a way to make him different.

Weapon swapping is often used in other fps. I am glad they are using it more here honestly.

They can always make the animation faster or weapons more impactful if he needs buffs in that regard.

Of course, ok… this makes a LOT more sense. Thanks it is the perfect explanation of why.

thanks for your problem solving idea & contribution but that wasn’t the problem i mentioned. of course anybody can change the key bind for any character but that doesnt make the issue with character design go away

Your teammate is desperately calling for heals. You, the ever caring support player, stop your DPSing. You swap your weapon and get LoS, charge up your life nurturing 65(!) heal and watch it travel towards your injured comrade…!

… You are too late, old age has claimed them already…

and ffs can anybody please tell me how to quote the comment in your direct response please? I don’t know how to do it, been replying but it looks like i’m talking to myself…

It’s fine for mercy cause her pistol is supposed to be weak and last resort but with lifeweaver its gonna feel insanely clunky. With torb too his hammer is only supposed to be used in unique situations and is relegated to a weapon swap cause torb already has two forms or fire.

They could just put his weak dash thing on the same input as hanzo’s lunge and boom now there’s a free button

Moira: Laughing in the corner.

But ya this is weird.

This can be done without the extra input. Which is just weird to have. As I’m personally going to have to remap the controls for it to swap weapons on right click regardless.

I know, it is a bit weird.

I think it’s clunky on purpose because they want Lifeweaver to be healing most of the time. That’s the general vibe they’re going for, a main healer not a DPS hybrid. His healing output clearly isn’t there right now, but that’s a different issue.
