Have you heard of preloading?
When huge stuff needs to be downloaded, usually, the company pushes a preload so the game can be downloaded ahead, and be ready on the event day.

14.5 GB… downloadable right on the event day?
Why?

14.5 is not such a big deal. I just got a 21.5 gb update on ps4 :joy:

I thought they weren’t doing this method anymore? That they would update a portion of the event downloads in advance to not have to slog downloading huge patches at once like this.

Yep, this is dumb. Also my download is going at literally single digit BYTES per second according to the launcher despite speedtest and fast both reporting ~130Mb/s. Maintenance issue?

Yes Blizzard, Jelly would like to play the event today, not watch it download. We could have done this last night😂

they’ve done this for other events. I don’t have access to my PC do I don’t know if they did it for this event, but if they didn’t I don’t know why they wouldn’t

If they did pre-loading, wouldn’t a lot of stuff get leaked before the event?

I was thinking this. People can access the logs and see what’s added.

What blizzard is doing is not to repeat the last EVENT mistake when everyone got the patch predownloaded , but all of them joined at once and the servers crashed/lagged causing some maintanance to be done also some of the leaks about the event were because people dug up inside the files

I have a 16 Mbit connection, I’ll have to leave the computer running all night because of this.

The lack of preload possibility and the size of this update are just ridiculous for a professional company like Blizzard.
