Any tips, strats suggestions for dealing with the new sombra?

She’s the same Sombra as before, do what you did before.

As soon as people realize she’s still just as bad as before the changes, you’ll go back to not seeing her as much.

Give it a little time and you won’t see Sombra in comp anymore.

Track her, once she translocate, figure out where, get her as she tries to go for another run, she’s slower and her movement more guessable, so you should be able to cancel her stealth by figuring out her retreat. Pressure her enough like that and she won’t do much

Junkrat, Hanjo, McCree for making her life more difficult (spam, sonic arrow, stun).

Mei, Winston for close range spray (though Sombra should give you a wide berth until you’re doing something else).

D.Va for random frustrating across-the-map spam to interrupt your abilities :joy:

These were always the case though.

Whenever I play Sombra, you know who I hate seeing? D.va :sweat_smile:

If you’re D.va, and you suspect Sombra might be invisible somewhere, just wildly spray your primary fire in her general direction. Sure, you’ll do almost no damage, but your high spread will allow you to completely cover that area in shots, which forces Sombra to decloak :smile:

This also prevents her from hacking, and if you ever see her throw a translocator, you can just fly up to it and kill it in an instant! Truly, Sombra players will hate you!

Even before the changes then, because prior to them I’ve never gone against one in comp, saw three back to back last night. Two were suspect smurfs.

Just looking for suggestions.

Junkrat, Mei, and Torbjorn are good at dealing with Sombra. Area denial through spam is good, and those three heroes also don’t care about beign Hacked.

Hanzo and Widow can make her stealth useless.
Hanzo, Reaper and McCree also aren’t dependent on their abilities to be good. Soldier is also a decent choice, provided he drops his healing station, as is Sym with her turrets.

If you are Hacked, which is going to happen as it’s a near guarantee for SOmbra to get the first Hack off, don’t panic. Fall back into the relative safety of your team and let them know there’s a Sombra running around. Your abilities are on a 6 second cooldown, so just wait it out. If you’re caught out on your own, you can potentially duel Sombra if you can hit her. McCree and Mei are ideal for this. If you’re on your own, a tank or Zenyatta, and Sombra Hacks you, you’re kind of SOL, because that’s where she functions best.

When invis try tracking her movements, keep in mind that translocator is destructable now but there are times where its better to wait for the sombra to return.
Other than that hack gets shutdown by 1 damage, invis also and as for EMP try to scatter so that she can’t get your team all at once.
If a sombra is trying to assasinate you and you can’t defend yourself try reaching out for your team cuz sombras usuallly can’t do much against a horde of enemys by herself.
EDIT: Pocket healer can ruin her day pretty hard if she isn’t patient enough

She really is not though. I know you are salty about the changes; however, she is A LOT better and you will see as more creative players take advantage of their new options. She is a monster. I used to play Widow into Sombra, yeah, not anymore. I have to just switch instantly if they are running a Sombrero.

I’m a Sombra main.

Revealing:

  • Dva/Roadhog for BS reveal spray-n-pray
  • Widow for perma reveal (Hard-counters Sombra)
  • Hanzo for tactical reveal
  • Any hitscan (soldier/McCree/Tracer)

Some other tactics are:

  • Run a brigitte to protect healers
  • When coming back from spawn, don’t go alone
  • Moira can protect herself and is a good counter
  • If you find sombra tp, tell your team to focus sombra, and she’ll likely die trying to escape
  • Her translocator leaves a trail in the air, if you shoot the trail it will reveal her when she teleports
  • Sombra announces when she comes out of invisibility saying “Been here all along”.
  • This game is a first-person shooter. Just shoot her, as her entire kit (hack, invisibility) is cancelled by even 1hp of damage

But widowmaker hard-counters sombra. With an ultimate that literally reveals sombra for 15 seconds, taking her completely out of the game during a crucial push. On top of that, widowmaker can put her mine nearby teammates or herself in out-of-sight places. Which can bring sombra out of stealth. And that’s not even mentioning she can destroy a sombra with a single shot, making her translocator recall useless.

You didn’t even mention that you need to be pretty close to widow because of her hitbox to even harm her

Same way as you deal with sniper, in a sense.

Continuously move and never be alone. Which is honestly how you should be playing even if there isn’t a sniper/Sombra. Because Sombra’s accuracy is still garbage even when her crosshair is near perfectly tracking you (she ain’t Tracer lmao). Also, it’s easier to get her to flee than it is Tracer or Genji since Sombra’s only “don’t die” strategy is using Translocator.

So that means utilizing:
Mei’s MB1 slow
McCree’s Flashbang
Brigitte’s Shield Bash
Literally any burst damage shot/ability
2v1 the nanosecond she pops out
Torbjorn Turret
Symmetra Sentries
Protective abilities (Zarya bubbles, Brig Shield, etc)

So while we can’t see or hear her coming like we can with Tracer or Genji, we can easily tell her to shoo… Unlike Tracer or Genji lol.

The Same.

It’s not like being able to pop out of stealth after twenty minutes suddenly and magically made her stronger somehow.

I don’t get how you and people like you fail to see that.
