He/They are targeting streamers. WoW Classic servers are getting hit, and Overwatch is being targeted as well.
I won’t link the twitter cause jerks don’t need publicity, but here’s one of them.
“Would target EU servers as well but since a lot of the servers are in the same DC as Mograine, it would cause outage on that server also. We did say we won’t down Mograine. So it’s US for now.
Oh and Overwatch, Overwatch is also down.”
Is there a reason for this, some kind of protest or they just doing it because they can? I mean cyber terrorist attacks never really end well for the regular users and barely hurt a company’s bottom line. That said I can’t think of anything major blizzard did recently to warrant such a thing.
If there is no kind of cause… wel lI hope the people enjoy it. More and more hackers are getting jail time for their actions, though admittedly it’s a pretty light sentence in most cases. 4-5 years for such actions is pretty light compared to the dmg caused and money lost vs say robbing a convenience store. But that has always been the case with “white colored crimes”. You can embezle millions and put thousands of out work and barely see jail time.
Rob a 7 eleven with a nerf gun and get 10-20.
Did they say why they’re doing this? I mean Blizzard and the community aren’t perfect, but they haven’t done anything bad to deserve this.
I mean at best Activision has been pretty bad, but again not nearly as much as Take 2 or EA…

Cause they can. Not even a legit hacker group just turds with a bot script. They hit wikipedia yesterday as well.
Hope they enjoy their infamy when they’re serving that jail time…
So they’re just trolling streamers? Well that sucks.
But what would the point of that be? I mean even if you really hated some one the best thing to do is to ignore them. Not give them free content by making their stream exciting by having constant problems and crashes.
Being able to literally blame it on hackers is just free drama.

Wikipedia, wow, wow classic, OW, Twitch are the big ones named.
They are systematically kicking streamers and entire servers.

Yeesh, that’s a lot of places. I don’t see the connection between these targets, what’s their angle? Are they just wreaking havoc because they can?

Looks like it. Imagine if you gave your teenager self something of this calibre. I know 16-year-old me would be cackling like supervillian while being a minor annoyance.
