Day 23 of Junks trap damage being wrong

Hey Toast I also saw the thread by the T500 Junkrat guy (I forget his name now), and he did a pretty good explanation as to why Junkrat’s viability suffers greatly in a 5 v 5 world. What sort of help (besides this bugfix topic) do you think he needs that will help him land hits better? Perhaps projectile speed? I’m just curious what you think could help him.

as much as i hate junkrat with my soul, I gotta say the thing they did with his trap was just not necessary at all. Imo his trap was the healiest cc lol, like if you get cced by it, then its your fault and plus YOU CAN FREAKING DESTROY IT LOL

Absolute must: Revert trap or replace the ability entirely.

Otrher buffs could be things such as:

  1. Increase primary in damage but only to directs in exchange for less aoe. Rewards aim, not spam.
  2. Increase in minimum mine damage. 30 isn’t cutting it with the extra 10% movement speed. You’re never going to hit the max damage if the other player is looking at you.
  3. Increase his hp to match all the other close range dps heroes. He’s the only one with 200hp and no defensive ability. He struggles to even get into position due to ranged poke and when he does he often can’t survive long enough in close range/on a flank.
  4. Revert nade size back to 0.3, from 0.2. The added movement speed and wide open maps has made his primary far too inconsistent. It was ok in OW1 as you could improve and make it work. In OW2 it’s just too easy to reactively dodge his nades.
  5. Lower mine cooldown. A lot of the time I’ve needed to just stand behind cover waiting for a cooldown. His primary is too inconsistent to engage without mines now.

Obviously not all of them but I suspect he needs a combination of them to have any chance of being playable, never mind viable, above diamond.

You know the devs messed up with even Cennixx agrees that Junk nerfs are unfair.

It’s funny how the devs seem to be ruining the heroes with low pickrates. It’s like they just looked down the sub 2% pickrates, saw Mei, Junk, Reaper, Bastion and Sym and nerfed/ruined 4 of the heroes. It’s like their thought process was “right lads, we’ve nearly driven all these players out the game. Time for the final stretch!”
I’m really surprised they didn’t nerf Sym but I’m sure it’s on the way.

That Freddo guy has his head so far up overwatches a…
Beta lobby is full of morons right now.
Half the dps don’t flank. They still gather and push like it’s ow1.
He fails to realize that we understand the hero. Trap is garbage the same way hanzo ult garbage.
I haven’t died to a hanzo dragon in years except wgen stuck in a zarya ult.

All trap does now is block a path temporarily for our slow moving asses to get away

Better buff Sojourn though!

they could give him an ability like that hero from paladins betty la bomba where she flies on a rocket and nuke her enemies or a bunch of exploding mines

Or they gave what would have been Junks reworked trap to Sojourn and reskinned it as an energy field instead of firebomb.

Why do you respond with that kind of nonsense? You’re not helping anything. I don’t care if you’re extremely bad enough at the game to hate heroes like Junkrat and Mercy. You should probably provide some constructive feedback or none at all.

Tbh the only changes he has seen in OW2 so far are in line with literally every other hero.
CC reduction, I understand his CC is not that problematic but reducing CC is what they said they’d do and it’s what they did.

As for other changes? Sym has none, Pharah has none, Torb, Genji, also have none.
Heroes with only nerfs? Ashe Soldier Echo
Heroes with only CC changes? Mei Junk Cassidy, …etc

There has been very minimal changes to dps and supports (bar the introduction of some major reworks) and Junkrat is no exception apart from his changes to his CC which everyone got.

Changes for a lot of heroes will come in time I’m sure of it.

The fact they dont have changes is alarming, because if the PVP was in any way based on the PVE set, you’d expect to see -something- when we’ve heard that most of the development so far was on the PVE side.

Historicaly, once Self damage and the riptire issue were removed, Junkrat, and changes around Junkrat, just kept nerfing him, repeatedly.

There’s obvious issues with other characters that have zero changes, because their neerfs are all the buffs given -around- them. Removal of a tank MASSIVELY Changed the game and basicly just handed it to hitscans or anyone with mobility and high projectile speed, something Junkrat was ALREADY weak against in OW1. These are Obvious results, and its more than a bit concerning for the health of the game that its seemingly happening after all this time.

I can only expect we’re going to find Bobby wasted their time with NFT’s and other mtx schemes that certainly would have killed the game. I am not looking forward to hearing the words " season pass" if it happens.

There is obvious issues, but the thing is, the changes so far were to lay a ground work, not balance the game.
Remove CC
Make small adjustments
Reworks implemented
Sojourn
Tank overhaul

That is the core philosophy of 5v5 and that is what they have changed it to. The goal right now is not to balance every hero. Attempting to balance Sym or Junkrat could very well make them OP and oppressive and completely take away from 5v5 as it is. WE WILL SEE CHANGES, just not everything needs to be done immediately.

They have shown they are willing to make adjustments quickly which is good and we could expect maybe 1 or 2 more patches for this beta.

Has it occurred to you that a lot of players possibly just haven’t noticed? I don’t see many people playing Junk, and I certainly don’t see players damage tracking the trap damage. If that’s the case, then it’s likely not many people have reported the bug, meaning it’s relatively unknown. I for one didn’t know this was an issue until today and I’ve played Junk on the beta on a number of occassions.

have you thought about making post this in the beta part of the forum

Like i said, i think given some of the accusations around the issue, Kotik may have royaly screwed their timeline and thats had some effects on how the game even tries to be balanced.

HEY I WAS READING THAT REPLY.

Kotick has definitely screwed things. But there are also rumours that there are changes to heroes in he alpha that aren’t in this beta.

I mean take Moira for example:
They’ve tried to rework her twice.
Not a single change in the beta.
Yet she was disabled like Orisa and Bastion since the first gameplay we saw, but nothing came of it?
Very sus

Or Symmetra:
No new voicelines
No redesign
No new visuals
No balance changes at all
But they’ve said multiple times that they are looking into testing lots of changes with her in Q&As?

More is to come I’m sure. It’d be weird if they played all their cards at once

I hope that lawsuit aimed squarely at him does good.

What we’re getting at here is specifically Junkrat, has been on the butt end of what happens when the game, or other characters get buffed, even when he’s not directly nerfed, and we’ve had Little reason to expect otherwise.

that would have been a cool new ability for junk actually. maybe another good idea would be to give a burn passive on his bombs kind of like ashe or a d.o.t on either his primary or secondary (probably concussion mine)
