You guys must be playing with the brightness setting super high, because this seriously never bothers me. This coming from someone who has a slew of eye problems, including some sensitivity to light.

Like seriously, what are your settings on?

My screen is dimly lit, and I play in a well-lit room. The Anniversary and All-Star backgrounds are still to friggin’ bright.

Many of the stages are too bright, too. Ilios and Nepal and notable offenders. We need a night mode, and night-time maps.

yeah trry that at 10pm or 6am… think before posting plox? And most players play in dark rooms to see things better and turning the light on is pure waste of energy so yeah… we need a fuqqing dark-mode in OW. Blizzard is sadistic not providing one until now.

tbh my eyes can take the fire from the screen. bUT I DRAW THE LINE when I go in the Hero Gallery and I can barely look at details of skins and other stuff because of the super WHITE background

If your eyes hurt because the menu is too bright, then that may be an indication that your environment is too dark!

It’s actually unhealthy for your eyes in the long run. Turning on some lights, even just your tiny desk lamp, will already help a lot!

The irony is that we’re supposed to be enjoying the summer games event, but there is no summer games event really. Instead they are promoting two rather awful and overpriced skins which are apparently associated with OWL (they don’t seem to be though, like the Lucio emote). Before that, when summer games was on the main menu, they didn’t even bother adding heroes like Reinhardt or Roadhog to the main menu background and showing off their skins. They spent a little time on this awful white OWL background though.

Install f.lux. It’s a free program.
It removes/reduces harmful blue light from your screen (the kind of light that makes your eyes “burn”). You can also set it to be applied to full-screen applications like OW.

It’s a quick fix. But yes, OW needs to use darker colors.
Perhaps based on the internal computer clock. Between 8pm and 8am it’ll automatically switch to darker colors.
Players should also be able to manually change it to night-mode at any time.
