Don’t worry, Marvel Rivals is coming! 6v6, Overwatch Classic, what’s next 3rd person 6v6? Can’t wait for Phil visits the Blizzard Headquarters part 2. Then player numbers return to 3 seasons ago. This is what happens when you destroy the competitive integrity of the game. Now telling everyone the game is cute and for casuals only. December 6th is nearing it’s arrival. See you soon OW Dev team…
I can’t remember any talk at all about OW classic or about 6v6 (in case you mean that) before that one huge blog post, and that was barely half a year ago (nothing about classic, though).
I tried Rivals and its gameplay was meh at best but that might in part be due to it being 3rd person and there hasn’t been a 3rd person perspective game I have ever liked.
They plan to let all the new players have a taste of all the different metas over a period of time. I assume this is to try to ease them into 6v6 so when they pull the plug on 5v5 there won’t be mass outrage by the 5v5 crowd. I hope I am wrong and they just give us both but this is just my conspiracy theory.
your character covers a smaller area of the screen than some weapons in overwatch that cover 25% of the screen. For example Phara’s weapon can cover enemies on the bottom right of the screen, forcing you to constantly yank the mouse. You can’t even see the silhouette of the enemy through your weapon.
you can see your character’s animations and get a better feel for timings
you can see what’s around the corner without getting hit from campers, thus fights are more fair.
you see what’s around you for melee fights, without needing a large FOV, allowing sporty melee characters to be more popular in the game. Thus melee/range fights are more balanced.
you can see your skin, and enjoy your in-game purchase
no need for crouch (ctrl), the button is freed up for other actions
viewers are more interested in watching the game on twitch.
Plenty of people don’t like 3rd person games. Lots do. It is just a preference thing really. I just zone out when I am not in first person way too often. I need that feel that I am looking through someone else’s eyes.
