Tanks and Supports got really buffed with their passives. 1sec out of combat is actually not that uncommon especially with supports in the back and able to typically get into cover. Enables several who had to use their abilities to heal up like bap, ana, brig, and moira can now heal up without any assistance from allies or burning abilties.
Tanks getting 50% armor reduction and 30% knockback resistance on top of feeding less for healing and damage is always active is also really good. Armor is super common on tanks and a huge general buffs.
Why are replacing a passive that can only be used in spawn with one that was always active mid combat that could actually help you secure kills. 30% swap is more like a pity mechanic where if you died you get to swap and not lose much. Its not really that abusable.
To me in beta 1 supports/tanks felt incredibly powerful simply because supports were getting so many buffs near the end. Zen +25 hp and kick. Mercy super jump. Baptiste burst heal on targets below 50% hp for +100hp as a wider AoE burst than Ana.
Tanks in general getting buffed due to the passives and armor changes along with other solo mechanic buffs. DPS while generally getting to fire freely I kind of want some active passive that aids in combat and movement speed was preferred to the ult charge change.
Blizzard says a bunch of things that gets a lot of people hyped for OW2, then they quickly go back on a lot of things they said and are making the same mistakes they did with OW1.
They take a few steps forward and 10 steps back again.
Its a passive that literally has no effect while playing, just when switching heroes.
One of the worst choices they could possibly take. Even if the team had WH to the enemy that killed the DPS for 2 sec after the DPS is dead would be better.
Sounds like they just made speedboost (and speed skills) much more valuable. Reduced the helplessness that was happening with supports who simply could NOT run away from turboDPS, and encouraged one of the games most overlooked and underused mechanics that was always central to gameplay: Swapping mid game.
Im a support main I just think fast dps was fun and forced me into more fights and duels as support . It didn’t really have that big of an effect on the game, we even got 25+ hp on zen because of it. I think they just needed to buff some support cooldowns so they could keep up with the new pace of the game.
If you give speed boost to some, also to the others, all equally or nothing, which was to get out of spawn and your dps and tanks at high speed and you as a slow support, very slow behind.
dps with 10% speed boost in the beta felt fine to me, dps would set up faster or wait for the rest of the team, lost of heroes in ow1 can already go faster than others with the use of abilities, you don’t get left behind because most people have brains and don’t to 3v5 the enemy team if they don’t have to.
edit: Supports don’t even want to be playing frontline either so being 10% slower than dps never really left me behind.
