Damage is way too high is this game

Like across the board. Tanks literally get bursted down as if they have no health and squishies go even faster. I understand why Bap + Double shield was the meta now the amount of sustain needed to even play the game is absurd…

It’s probably not going to do a single thing. They need to do a global damage reduction just like they did with ultimate charge because high damage is across the board not just in a select few characters

Pretty much this. The dev’s and most he community are ignorant of why things like Goats or Double shield became meta. People weren’t amazed by the dmg of tanks or support so much they gave up DPS.

No it’s because dmg and instant kill mechanics became so popular you NEEDED it to survive. It is also why nerfs to various tanks and support did nothing to stop it and they had to default to role lock.

Any nerf to a tank or support affected them even worse in 2-2-2 than it did in Goats or double shield. Orisa and Sigma’s nerfs are the biggest example. After all these nerfs Double shield is less viable, but they are also utterly worthless as a single shield.

Orisa and her 600hp shield on 10 second CD might as well not be there. Honestly other than Rein who still has a decent 1600hp shield with the same recharge rate as before there really isn’t a decent shield tank on the roster any more.

I would say the next best is actually Winston! It provides great coverage, 700hp and only slightly longer CD than Orisa.

I agree, 600 hp shield, on a 10 sec cooldown, plus the fact that it’s immovable once deployes, especially with the current level of pure damage, is categorically not enough

Time to kill is super long in this game compared to other fps shooters.
Also tanks are not suppose to be unkillable monsters.

Ofc not. But it doesn’t mean that they have to be just deleted in a matter of 0.2 seconds as soon as they just peek at the corner. They are freakin’ tanks.

I’d argue the only damage thats too high is Hanzos.

Most heroes barely got damage changes, and the ones that did are still useless (Junkrats nades to 140, D.VAs missiles weighing down her ENTIRE kit)

Hell, even the beam changes toned down Zarya and Sym as a whole, making them less optimal picks

If anything, the only one who is slightly strong is Mei, and thats because she was f-tier before and got buffs that made her decent.

The healing nerfs also contribute to this fake power creep since less healing = more damage taken that they cant heal through.

And if damage is nerfed across the board, then armor on tanks will be supreme. It is not a good idea to do this.

As long that they last longer because they are tankier than the other heroes in other roles then, they still have their use in this game.

They can die literally faster than DPS and Support heroes since their hitboxes are the size of the car. Also consider burst damage from the Snipers or other Tank busters.

It’s not the damage of everything, it’s the damage of a few specifics heroes.

Out of all the DPS we have, only a bunch are playable, because the other are totaly over shadowed. Not to mention the forum’s crap storm if one of those unpopular heroes end up getting a buff.

Nope. These are several examples I could use but ill use one.
Battlefield 3.
They have different roles like medics/healers, that have specific abilities to their role. like dropping health packs and reviving teammates. And BF3 is a team based FPS though and through.

Again this isnt from Mobas. Several FPS games have had similar abilities as ultimate’s. Ultimates originated in fighting games if you want to be specific.

All those things you mentioned were borrowed from FPS games. Not from Mobas.
I think this were the confusion is with the community that has had little to no experience with past FPS games. They think a lot of OW features are from mobas or whatever and the reality is that most are from past FPS games.
And then they want to move this game into being more like a moba with their opinion on the forums , when this games has very little in common with a moba.

Dude these things are straight from MOBA… pure FPS - > Counter strike, CoD, Unreal Tournament, Halo etc. Once you have character specific abilities like Rainbow Six Siege, Apex Legends is FPS with MOBA elements ( more pew pew less abilities) then you have FPS/MOBA hybrid (pew pew has the same value as abilities) like Overwatch

Now you are moving the goalposts by saying “Pure FPS” lol. Come on now.
The FPS genre in all its forms has had virtually all the things OW has in the past. What it took from mobas is very little.
Even characters like Doomfist resemble characters you see in fighting games more than Mobas.

Listing something Overwatch took from Mobas that hasnt been in any FPS in the past in any shape or form is harder than you make it seem. Because like I said OW has very little it took from mobas. Most is all FPS.

And this is where we disagree… I think it takes more from MOBA regarding importance of abilities and team strategy that’s why I love Overwatch… Because it’s strategic chess game when every move has to have logic some objective you want to follow, create a plan and execute.

You see it as click heads and watching kill feed how many times your name pop off.

And that’s why we have such a split in community. You can’t have organized almost RTS like team fights when half of your team wants just to click heads all day. And vice versa.

I don’t want to generalize but flex/tanks/support mains mostly like strategic overview and play it team base. And DPS mains just want to kill ppl… nothing wrong about it. But there are two absolutely different perspective of the game and both (at least what I read about the game and my 3 years experience in the game) are correct so there will always be some friction between the two.

You want more FPS sure have it but you will loose vast majority of tanks and supports.

Edit: I am maybe one of few ppl who actually enjoyed OWL GOATS meta, so much precise movement, perfect timing, perfect strategy and absolute team synergy.
