Daily reminder that hanzo is unplayable

he is by far the worst dps, maybe worse than he was back in 2016-2017. unplayable against any kind or team in 5v5. shields? dive? poke? whatever…he is garbage.
not only that but he is bugged since forever in ow2. no regs are 50% of his shots, arrows disappear all the time.

Go play Hawkeye if you want a superior marksman (who is more relatable than some like Namor).

That prize goes to Sym, I’d say.

Hanzo is fine. Hitscans are just overtuned.

Nobody cares here, they’d rather have every hero they don’t like nerfed into oblivion that have a fun game.

Go play Rivals, this game is hitscan-oriented.

I wouldn’t say he’s unplayable, just so many nerfs piled up. I won’t repeat the buffs I believe he should’ve gotten since he got back his OHK, just that I believe he’s the only character who’s arguably if not in a worse state than how he was in S8. I mean, yes, every character benefitted to different degrees since S9. They might all require a couple extra shots, but when they’re all hitting more shots than before, it kind of evens out. I understand how breakpoints and work, but, while one or two of them have been reverted to varying extents, I still don’t believe 5 damage (the return of his OHK) was worth:

  • Losing the entirety of his S9 projectile size buff. So he lost 50% size.
  • Draw speed nerfs are double nerfs, so that was 20% reduced fire rate and moving slower 20% longer.
  • Then comes his ult that got I think a 50% speed boost, meaning it lost half it’s area control/ potential damage.

That’s a lot for the capability to OHK even fewer characters than before S9 (characters with 225 or more before then, however many there were).

You have your bs one shot back. Stop crying bc your Hanzo is not a victim. If you want Hanzo to be better (even though he is actually ok-ish), then hand over the one shot.

i get less hanzo one shots than zen volley “one shots” and im not even remotely good at zen. its so rare it doens’t even worth mentioning anymore.

if players dont like hanzo one shots he could lose headshots entirely but he should also get bigger arrows. he is shooting air. i can kill way more with ashe out of her effective range (falloff included) and she also comes with abilities and a decent utlimate so what is hanzo doing here?!

One of the reasons you feel you’re getting fewer OHKs, 3 actually:

  • Muscle memory, firing arrows too soon.
  • He does proportionally less damage. Not only do you need 100% charge to kill, but before S9, you would take out just short of 5/8 of a target’s HP, and you could OHK with 80-90% charge or so.
  • And continuing from the second point, there are fewer characters he can OHK. Two I know he can’t OHK anymore are Cassidy and Symmetra.

Otherwise, yes, it’s a mix of his arrows being smaller or slower than I think they should be considering everyone else got to keep most of their size buffs, and his arrows do feel less consistent than I remember from S8.

you say that like it’s a bad thing

i always felt hanzo is better at low/mid than widow but in the higher ranks widow becomes the better sniper

i have always been low/mid and i have died more to hanzo’s one shot than widowmaker heh

edit:
real curious since i havnt played hanzo IN A VERY LONG TIME. did some games with him and yea its fun. have to get use to it more. kind of becoming addicted heh

Lifeweaver and Brig too

You’re correct about this.

This is the reason only low ranks complain about Hanzo, while he is generally accepted to be pretty weak in upper ranks.

Spamming in the low ranks actually can get value, as players don’t understand positioning pathing, or movement, and will often walk into chokes or out into an open field without a care. Additionally, they don’t care about Sonic Arrows.

In anything above Plat, spamming is no longer a viable strategy, and unlike Widow, Hanzo can’t control space by simply existing.

He really isn’t. Let’s list what he has:

  • The ability to oneshot without having to put himself into any sort of risky situation
  • The most powerful burst CD in the game
  • A lunge that is basically a weaker version of a single Tracer blink
  • Unlimited access to high ground
  • Wallhacks on CD that aren’t even telegraphed to the enemy team
  • An ultimate that, while not particularly strong (it is a DPS ult after all), has the benefit of being a “fire and forget” type deal

Calling a hero with a kit like that “unplayable” is delusional.

Hanzo is a mid range hero, and has to position very aggressively to find consistent value.

True.

Better to say it’s basically a weaker version of Cass’ Combat Roll.

True.

Sonic’s scan radius is visible to enemies when it lands, plus it makes a humming sound for its entire duration.

To sum it up, he’s not bad. He’s not great, but he’s certainly playable.

Hanzo needs a rework for everyone’s sake. Remove his OHKO and redistribute the power. Maybe steal hawkeyes tracking shot with better proj speed or focus in on his utility. Something other than aiming at head level and crossing your fingers

Complaints about Hanzo are not Hanzo’s fault, but rather the fault of the players complaining about him.

The same could be said about literally any hero?

Hanzo is extremly bad and loose duels to 95% heroes of ow (sups too). No matter how good are you (aim, choosing position, ability managment and other). This hero is sick. And in this absurd situation we have hitscan widow with bullets change not so much from his arrows.
