Why I never see anybody mentioning this?
D.va has:

Because widow will apparently always have grappling hook off cooldown and two-shot the dva out of mech, then one-shot dva as she pops out of her mech
Because dva is not a solid widow counter when widow gets a single peel or jumps down and shoots back.
People play doublesniper and widow a lot for a good reason and Dva certainly doesn’t counter widow to force her out of the role. What have we learned from OWL season 1 and allstars just now anyway? That dva keeps getting demeched constantly and dive is not foolproof widow counter.
Hammond is far, far better at the job btw, he locks her into knockback animation and actually kills her and doesn’t have a massive hitbox to take 300dmg into the face with when he dives her.

D.va is definitely not a solid counter. You can not reliably count on d.va to keep a widow shut down
Dva has a huge crit box for one that widow eats alive and can demech her in 2 seconds.widow does 300 damage a crit. And widow picks at her from long ranges long before d.va can boost to her. This is also not considering how far d.va has to overextend. She is bound to get deleted by the rest of the team in one second anyways.
Widow also has mobility. Once d.va comes at her, she can grapple away and d.va has no effective damage at range.
If a widow sees a d.va coming. D.va can’t touch her, and will get demeched very quickly. The only way d.va kills widow is if the widow is oblivious to her surroundings and d.va lands most of her missles and can follow up diving her.
Because D.Va is a big target that has to fly past the enemy team to get to Widow. Same reason Winston isn’t a Widow counter against competent teams.
This is true but it also means you will have to be doing that instead of protecting your team. It also depends on if the enemy team will let you get to her at all.
Counter means nothing when you’re playing against a widow comp. D.va diving a widow in a one shot comp now has to deal with hanzo/widow/d.va/winston/mercy/zen, while your d.va’s escape is on cool down. You’ll be discorded, hanzo/widow will be damage boosted, you will be melted, and have basically given the enemy free ult charge.
No she isn’t.
Maybe she is bellow diamond but she isn’t.
Let’s not forget widow’s hitbox is the size of one of mac donald’s frries, so most of the bullets D.va will shoot won’t hit her properly unless she is literally in her face
People don’t actually want solid counters, they want an ez win button that doesn’t require skill and teamwork.
not saying widow is op. I am just saying dva kinda isnt the best counter her. i feel like winston is. (i say out of experience of how many widows i got to rage at me in match chat

If you fly through Widow’s team to get to her you will usually be very low health by the time you get there these days. There’s just too much CC and the burst damage in the game has been jacked up way too much. And if you do get on her, she’ll probably just get a repair pack from Brig.
You can certainly kill her if you get to her in one piece, but if that happens the fight has usually broken down into more of a close range brawl, and anyone could kill Widow at that point.
The main reason Widow is so strong right now is a combination of time (so many players even at lower ranks have literally practiced her for 3 years now), nerfs to dive heroes, buffs to CC and Stuns in general throughout the game, damage creep, and burst healing.
The game has deep rooted flaws and needs a complete overhaul. Burst healing and burst damage need to go way way down, boops and stuns need to be toned down. If they stay on this path the game will never recover.

My 250+ hours on d.va and i will not dive a widow if i can help it unless my team are getting shredded.
I’ll initate, DM some shots and get away, it’s not worth going for the kill unless you catch the widow off guard and land your boosted missiles and primary all in one motion.
I feel safer diving a Hanzo as bad Hanzo’s spam there storm into my DM which happens A LOT compared to ones who wait out DM.
His hitbox feels a little bigger also, if i had to put it to a list on how well D.va can dive a DPS nevermind a sniper I’d put it like so;
From favoured to unfavored 1v1 Dive.
